Oh my god, this album is shaping up to be a real snooze fest. Can’t they write ONE riff that doesn’t try to be the Nth incarnation of a cloned “Just One Fix” riff? One can always hope the new TV song is going to do exactly like the previous 5, haha. That would at least spice it up the album a little bit…
I thought the song was okay. I do however hate the drums in it. I don’t know what it is but I’m not feeling it!
I like Cult of Suffering - who’s doing the vocals on that one?
Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello.
Ministry-Hopium
Bruce Dickinson - The Mandrake Project
I checked out the setlist, I’ll skip this tour…
The lip syncing is real with this one.
The album version of “Ricky’s Hand” is pretty cool. Lots of synth and metal sounds. Al could probably record a great electronic album if he wanted to.
This is the first time since Psalm 69 that I didn’t buy a Ministry album on the day of its release. Think I’ll be passing on this one altogether.
I forgot it came out yesterday. I just bought it, Haven’t listened yet though
Goddamn white trash what catchy. hope it’s not the only one, though. Looking forward to hearing Ricky’s Hand.
First listen through, I like the album. I think it’s better than the last one. I think the only one that I straight up don’t like is cult of suffering.
I almost wanna listen to it on Spotify, but I just ate a big lunch and don’t want to throw up.
Got my copy in the mail today. A very good first impression after 1 listen, sounds a lot fresher than the last two albums. I’ll have to give it a few more spins to let it sink in a bit and see if this impression lasts or not. Color me pleasantly surprised anyhow!
I like it also…gonna spin it again today…
About half of it didn’t land but I liked the half I liked better than anything Al’s done since Surgical Meth Machine. Cult of Suffering and Ricky’s Hand are the highlights for me.
yawn
Yeah it’s as expected. I’m going home to listen to something…good.
I take back all the unkind words (well, most of 'em) I said about the video singles - they work very well on the album. And what an album! This is Ministry’s finest since From Beer To Eternity. “Cult Of Suffering” alone is worth it for me, but I also really like “It’s Not Pretty” , “It’s Not Right” and “New Religion”. But basically I like the whole album. “Aryan Embarassment” ; most low-brow, basic riff ever? But it works so well with the rest of the song, which is prime Lard. Actually sounds like a mash-up of “Dead End Streets/Viagra Culture” and “Generation Execute” from said band.
The songs are good, but the production is also well note worthy. It’s got the classic Ministry Layer-upon-layer approach they haven’t utilized in a while, and it works wonders. Just listen to the production on the vocals of “Cult Of Suffering” - this is some well-thougth out stuff in my opinion
Funny I had absolutely NO expectations of this album, but ordered it out of “courtesy” and interest - and it turns out it is a classic! What luck!
