Holy Ghost! Cover "I Wanted To Tell Her"

http://stereogum.com/876311/holy-ghost-cover-ministry/mp3s/

One of the best Ministry covers I’ve heard.

Yeah it’s good stuff. The Juan Maclean are great and DFA release quality stuff too…I’m not a fan of LCD or Holy Ghost though.

This is a good cover…stays pretty faithful to the original but adds a bit of beef to the sound.

I like that they did the extended version.
They know their stuff.

Excellent cover. It’s great to hear a Ministry cover that’s not from some shitty industrial band.

Maybe Al will somehow realize his older stuff is cool…or not…

That song is probably my fav. from WS, but that cover isn’t as good as the original, imo. The female vocals are certainly weaker.

Oh my fucking god. This made my day. I have been listening to Holy Ghost! religiously the past month. Saw them open for Cut Copy.

good one Afra…thanks!

Good until the vox kicked in. Partly bc that ain’t a black woman singing. The male vocal sounded like shit too. I could do this one better.

really? i find the female vocals in the cover to be the best part. i like the original better though.

Listening to it, it’s an okay cover, but still their album in pretty fucking awesome. Hold On’s a track to check out

It’s a solid cover, especially b/c it’s poppy and not from some lame Cleopatra Industrial cover compilation, but I would have picked a different WS song. Say…Effigy, Say You’re Sorry or She’s Got a Cause.

I thought it was a rather good cover.

The cover’s female vox are so flat, the f. vox on the original were great. To me there’s no contest.

Why does such a great arsenal of music (80s and 90s Ministry) in general be turned into such shit covers? I’m sure there’s enough good musicians out there who are Ministry fans and not lame industrial bands who may want to try a cover. There’s so much possibilities with Ministry songs as most of them are basic enough so there’s plenty of room to tinker around with it. And not just straight forward covers like Sepultura’s ‘Just One Fix’ which was boring as hell. There was a few decent numbers off that cover comp. that someone posted here a while ago but most of them were poor. The best one I can remember was the ‘Corrosion’ cover which was basically just a slowed down version of the song. Those cover albums floating around that I’ve heard (like the Wish You Were Queer) are terrible.

Screw the covers…just get Adrian Sherwood to Dub the hell out of all that old Ministry crap. There’s no better man for the job for obvious reasons.

The vocals are weak on the Holy Ghost cover no doubt and it stays a little too faithful to the original.

Hmmmmm, what I’ve been saying all along, basically. Kick out all of the enablers/hangers-on/rednecks/kids (basically everyone but Mikey) and bring Sherwood back to work with Al in some intensely focused sessions.

Twitch Part 2, or a REAL “Last Dubber”, whatever.

I can list any number of talented musicians/co-conspirators/producers who could maybe extract one final solid “industrial” album out of Al before he expires.

Sherwood, RH Kirk, Stevo George (HAH!) Bon Harris, Youth, hell even someone like Dr. Alex Patterson, Victor van Vugt or Paul Robb…just someone to break up this string of monotonous, sophmoric butt rock!!

Patient killed the FUCK outta “Dream Song,” though.

I love the Wish You Were Queer/Another Prick In the Wall albums. The duds are duds, but the good ones are GREAT.

Gonna scope this cover now.

WHAT?! Who covered one of my “top 3 songs of Ministry”?

hell even someone like Dr. Alex Patterson,

Hey man Orb just released a pretty amazing cd/dvd yesterday 11/11/11 called C-Batter-C. Look into it as it’s pretty awesome…

Really dug Pig’s cover of Just Like You off Wish You Were Queer, but yea everything else is a joke. Been a Holy Ghost! fanboy for a while this cover is something special for me seeing as I’m a Ministry fanatic as well.

The “Angel” cover (I can’t remember off-hand who did it - Julian something) is fantastic.
