All of them except Slayer if I’m editing your list.
Yeah, this is pretty much where I was heading…
Oh and that was just from your second list…as for Sabbath,it’s less about “growing out” of them and more about that stuff being so firmly engraved in my psyche that I never have to even hear it again…although on occassion I will listen to Vol 4 or Born Again or Mob Rules just to keep the old spirit alive…

Wow, I wouldn’t expect you to hate on Sabbath. Well, actually, it’s not a big surprise considering we were both there for Ozzfest '05[/reply]
Sorry, I was only looking at your added list when I said that. I don’t care how much of a puppet Ozzy becomes or how horrible whatever next Ozzy and Friends tour or album is, I’ll NEVER turn my back on Sabbath.
I don’t have many bands that I really grew out of or later decided were a pile of crap after all. Most of the stuff that I thought was awesome back in the day is still awesome. There’s far more examples of stuff that I thought I was too cool to listen to at the time and then later decided was great and got more into it.
Rush’s fanbase consists mainly of blank faced, 35 year old unmarried, computer systems software analysts - who wear glasses, have pony tails, wear turteneck sweaters, collect model airplanes and have names like Nigel or Gordon.
They also enjoy listening to Dream Theater and early period Genesis on their iPods while reading Star Trek magazines on the train to work.[/reply]
Hahahaha, holy shit, spot on, absolutely spot on. I’ve never seen the attraction of any of those bands myself, load of old wank. Although i must say i love Slayer and Pantera, who seem to be unpopular here. Fucking LOVE them.
ANAL CUNT. In High School it was like, “Yeah! This is both offensive AND unlistenable. It must be awesome.” Then later it’s just unlistenable. Once the joke of the album names and song titles is over (takes about 3.5 seconds) you’re left with a giant pile of crap. I respect, though, that Mr. Putnam somehow rolled a 5 year old’s sense of humor and completely unlistenable dogcrap into a cult following. Cheers!
Also, MEAT PUPPETS. I guess I thought they were supposed to be cool when I was in High School because they were on a small independent label and relatively unknown. Then they had some MTV semi-hit and a major label release, I think. I was like, “Hey!! WTF!!! Sellout muthereffers!!!” Then later I was like, “Why would anyone care? They were always gay.”
True Story: I just typed in “Rush fans” into my Bing Image Search (I wanted to get some shots of beardy nerds to make fun of). I got 285,000 results. But . . . . They were ALL for Big Time Rush, some teenybopper boyband.
Unless you actually listened to and enjoyed all of the above IN HIGH SCHOOL you kind of missed the point of the thread. We already have had “Overrated” and “Sucks” threads. This thread is bands you’ve “grown out of” basically.
Yeah. Not just shitty bands in general. That’s too easy.
Bands I grew out of…? OK here’s a few
DRI
Sisters Of Mercy
Prong
The Accused
Suicidal Tendencies
Jesus And Mary Chain
I’m actually starting to come back to liking some Prong. I won’t be buying anything soon, but I’ve actually liked a couple of their most recent tracks (most notably, “Best Served Cold”).
I guess I can add this to my list. I admit that I still like the singles from Floodland, but the rest of that album is crap. I also finally heard No Time To Cry and I must say that Cradle Of Filth does it better.
I joined this forum my last year or so of high school, so pretty much whatever I was hype on six years ago applies, hahah.
Definitely don’t like Skinny Puppy nearly as much as I did. I think the only ones I ever spin on a regular basis are Bites and GWOTR.
NIN, totally.
Rammstein. That’s prolly the big one.
Most metal and goth-industrial in general. I’ll blast some Metallica or whatever when the mood strikes, but I’m definitely not a crazy metalhead or a shitty, whiny goth kid anymore, hahah.
Haha, i seem to be still enjoying a good few of the bands you guys don’t like any more. I love Rammstein, been to see them a few times live and was blown away every time. I do hate the Red Hot Chilli Peppers though, they are absolute bollocks and they were rubbish live too. Probably the most boring show i have ever been to. That was in 1993 as well, i think, so i’ve been a longtime non-fan.
