Help my friend's band please.. !

A friend of mine has a band and they just entered a Battle of the Bands thing. If they win they will get new equipment (which they sorely need) and a spot on the Van’s Warped Tour at their local venue… I would appreciate it if any of you would check out this link :

http://www.battleofthebands.com/battlebak/bb9/bands/nephilim/

and listen to their songs. You have to listen to the song(s) all the way through for them to register/count. It’s good 'ol thrash metal with some extremely good guitar riffs. Like I said… If any of you can help my buddy’s band out I would sincerely appreciate it! Thanks for anyone who does!

Peace!

I listened for you and your boyz krowe - so they’d get a “count”.

i’m not into the vocals tho.

but i hope they win.

I listened all the way through as well.
I was never into growling vocals or guitars playing scales.
I don’t see them on the Warped Tour. But it would a cool venue for them to be apart of.

According to their bio thingy:
Nephilim is a Sacramento area thrash metal band influenced by the likes of Pantera

Pantera? Carcass, Cannibal Corpse or Napalm Death perhaps. But not the kings of metal!

Well… Even I have told them that their singer needs a LOT of work. And their drummer does too. I never said they were great, guys. =)

I just want to help my friends out, as I would do the same for any of you in the same situation. And while scales and growls might not be your type thing, you have to agree it does sound pretty decent. Nothing really innovative or moving, it’s better than standard fare coming out in the metal scene nowadays (i.e. the so called new big names like Atreyu and As I Lay Dying and such)… But thanks for the help peeps… Anything is better than nothing.

And I agree on the Vans things also… While it’s not really something they would fit into or be greatly welcomed at, it would at least be a good start for exposure and building a fan base.

And I didn’t read too much on the bio page since I know them. They said Pantera on that thing? Yeah right. Not even close. They sound a bit more like Lamb Of God or amatuer Slayer, not nothing CLOSE to Pantera.

I’ll have to yell at them about that. =)

Peace!

Not bad at all, very good guitars.

Does anyone remember damn good gloom UK outfit called Fields of The Nephilim? Did some good music, split up in 91, singer reformed under the name The Nefilim, splits that band up in 98, Fields of… reform in 2000 with two original members at least, one member leaves, the name is shortened to The Nephilim, then split…

Playing/performing is not the most difficult issue with music, it´s finding an all original unused/not copyrighted band name. [;)]

Incidentally, McCoy still does hold the rights to the name Nephilim (at least in the UK). They are supposed to release a new album this year. I wonder if that will happen. This is terribly off-topic but The Nephilim are easily my favorite band ever (just look at the avatar) and so I simply had to add my two cents

Yeah… I’ve heard almost everything from almost every incarnation of that band. They are pretty good. I’ve told my friends about the name possibly being a problem and all they ever say is “we’ll deal with that if it becomes an issue”… Oh well. Whatever makes them happy. =)
