Hello all.

First time poster, long-time lurker.

Actually tried to sign up for the board a couple times before, but just now figured out the whole validation email thing. I found Prongs a while back when I googled “Pigface 6 sucks” because I wanted to be sure it wasn’t just me. Kept coming back because you cats just kept posting links to stuff that interested me, and then got totally sucked into the board drama. This board is often the most interesting thing I see on the internet at any given time, and I’m online killing time QUITE a bit at work. Figured I should go ahead and introduce myself because the voyeurism of reading everyone’s posts and never saying anything myself was starting to creep me out.

So yeah. I’m 32, live in St. Louis, play keyboards in a rock band (poorly, but with enough effects to squeak by), do noise on the side, and put out an irregularly scheduled podcast with a buddy of mine. By day I make reports for the low income housing industry. My girlfriend is a burner chick (Burning Man art hippies), and we recently rescued a 3-year-old retired puppy mill stud boston terrier. He’s the shit. My favorite Ministry is everything from LORAH through Filth Pig, but especially LORAH. Used to be a HUGE Pigface & Invisible Records fan, before everything they did started to suck. Well, that’s the rundown on me- I figure we’ll get into all of that in greater detail down the road, so for now I’ll just say pleased to make y’all’s acquaintance.

…oh yeah, and I have a nice boot of the Sunday Retrospectacle show sitting on my trusty TASCAM DR-07…

First off, FUCK YOU I LOVED 6 BAWWWWWWWW

[:)]

But seriously, welcome to the board. We’re a weird bunch, that’s for damned sure, so I think you’ll fit riiiight in.

Your dog sounds cool. You oughta post a pic. Mine is horrendously gay.)

Was 6 the one with Insect/Inject?
If so, the remix was way better.

Nah, dude, that was Easy Listening… for Difficult Fuckheads.

Thanks Icepick! Here’s a picture of our dog Tucker (came with the name). We got him from a wiccan dog rescue place 3 hours away that gets a lot of retired puppy mill breeders. My mom’s a high priestess and knows them, so when they said they were moving to a smaller parcel of land and needed to find homes for 100 dogs, we decided to foster. So we got him, and then when they found a prospective adoptor, we realized we didn’t want to give him up, so they graciously let us adopt him. He’s a funny little thing. When we got him, he didn’t know how to go up and down stairs, or play with toys, and walking in grass freaked him out. He’s a fast learner though, and we really lucked out with him, he is really eager to please- which is apparently a trait of the breed. Bostons are awesome.

How do I make the picture show up instead of be an attachment? Ah well, it’s there if anybody wants to look at it.

HAH! That little guy kicks all kinds of ass! Respect!

(As for photo-embed nonsense, I typically upload to some kinda photobucket-type site and go from there, but I rarely do so anyway and I suck at the internet. Haaah.)

I did kind of like Easy Listening… but it felt more like a compilation to me and not a coherent album, which to me was the cool thing about Pigface- taking a bunch of different people, rotating them in and out, and getting a (for the most part) even and solid quality end result. Easy Listening felt really uneven to me, and it’s DEFINITELY front-loaded. I tried to give 6 a second listen and just COULDN’T, especially after I saw Connelly come out and go “What? He actually put that out? Rubbish!” I mean how bad does it have to be if Atkins farms it out to some no name label instead of dropping it himself. And then NO TOUR! WTF! Really disappointing, especially since I thought the China Dub Soundsystem was so good…

I really dig the last two Pigface records, because they both entered my life at really shitty times and proved to be a pleasant distraction. Lotsa good memories, especially outta Easy Listening.

Chicks. Booze. Guns. Fire trucks.

GODDAMN IT I FUCKING LOVE PIGFACE.

Pigface was the second show I ever paid to go see way back in 1994 when I was 15. Ogre, Mary Byker, Curse, inflatable rafts, it was the shit!

Saw them again on my birthday in '98 for the Lowest of the Low tour, then I saw them two nights back to back on the Greatest Hits tour, in Columbia, MO and St. Louis. The St. Louis show pissed me off because instead of the 3 hours of Pigface insanity I saw the night before, they played about an hour and GRAVITY KILLS took the headlining spot. So weak.

Then again I think on the Easy Listening tour. That show also ended without the customary hour and a half encore because the club it was at had lost it’s liquor license a week before, and the crowd was so sober that when the lights came up they just walked out with everyone still standing onstage slack-jawed like “where are they going”.

For years my stock answer to the “favorite band?” question was either Pigface or Mr. Bungle depending on the day. If expanded to 3, I’d throw the Jesus Lizard on there (finally got to see them at the New Year’s Eve 2009 show at Metro). Don’t really know what I’d say now, my listening habits have gotten so… schizophrenic?

Favorite record of all time (not necessarily the most-played, but the one that grabs me hardest):

Swans “Soundtracks For The Blind”

I think I can honestly say that record really began my love affair with sound itself. Sound for sound’s sake. The textures of that record can just stop your heart.

Damn that is one ugly dog! look at the eye orbs on that thing! I would say “eye balls” but that would be misleading!
Welcome to the fold!
Late,

Thanks grmps!

Welcome, davelybob!

Welcome to the board! Good to have a new voice around here.

Thanks guys!

Carmangary, what were you doing in St. Peters and when was that? Ever go to a place called Sally T’s?

Icepick, what kind of dog do you have? My gf has another dog (that lives with her dad because our lease won’t let us have a pet over 25 lbs) that is as gay as the day is long.

Welcome. Regarding Pigface…I gave up after Washingmachine Mouth. Love that EP.

I made it just past that. “Notes From Thee Underground” (great album) was as far as I made it, but up through that one I was also listing Pigface as one of my very favorite bands.

I got hooked as soon as “Gub” came out. Here’s me “reprezentin”, circa 1990.

And, yes, bandannas tied outside of golf hats were all the rage back then.

Good eye. I’m actually about 4’ 9" in real life, but I pimp out all my photos (even the old ones) to make me look tall.

carmangary- sounds like you have an interesting job. I know exactly where you were staying. If you went across the highway from the mall there and went left on the outer road (at the QuikTrip & Burger King), you’d hit the little “old town” strip of St. Peters, that’s where Sally T’s was. It was a cool little club run by this awesome hippy chick, they shared a building with a biker bar. Mostly punk rock and jam bands, a lot of high school bands. Sally made awesome sandwiches and instead of fries you’d get animal crackers. They closed down a few years ago. I miss them.

The club with fetish night was the Galaxy, I saw a shit load of good shows there, including three of those Pigface shows. They’re gone now too. Probably 60% of St. Louis’s concert venues have gone under in the last ten years, it’s really fucking sad.

The East side is fucking gross. Ew.

Can I ask what you thought of St. Louis Style pizza? It’s usually a love-it or hate-it thing for non-natives, no in between.
