I was just about to post that.
Shout Factory is a helluva company.
I concur.
They have been putting out amazing, Criterion-like versions of old 80s horror films lately. Shit I never thought I’d see on bluray.
Holy crap.
Yes.
Oh, yes.
Boner.

Is there any reason to buy it on Blu-Ray instead of DVD, though? I mean, the movies were kind of old and grainy anyway, right? Does it make sense to pay an extra $15 for “clearer picture” on something that wasn’t that clear to begin with?
I’m not trying to sound sarcastic, by the way, as I really don’t know the ins and outs of Blu-Ray, and would like to make the right decision for this set.
Regardless, this is AWESOME that we finally get these movies on DVD. Even better that we’ll finally get to see #3 for the first time.
Yeah, depending on the film stock used, even the best transfers will retain some of the grainy-ness. (Film purists actually like this) And yeah, a lot of low budget horror used cheap stock. But with blu, you’ll get more saturated color. And way better sound.
Plus Scream Factory has sunk a lot of money into the special features. Stuff you just wouldn’t normally get on movies like this. That may or may not matter to you.

Yeah, I do like the extras for this, but it looks like they come with either package. I don’t really care about sound quality. I don’t have any audio system hooked up or anything (just whatever speakers my TV has).
I’ll probably just get the DVD.
I bought bootlegs of all three at Ear Wax Records in Madison years ago. I feel obligated to give my money over in an official capacity. I’m part of the problem. Sorry, Penelope!
From the title of this thread, I was expecting it to be something about Paul or Chris working with Ministry again.
I thought it had to do with The Eagles…
I was a little bit scared it might be an Eagles thread too (that would suck so hard).

Wow! Great job scoring a boot of #3. So . . . how was it? You’re one of like 8 people on planet Earth that have actually seen it.

It’s good. Different from the others, because it’s much more about the kids than the music. I remember it being a downer at times. Basically a documentary about homeless LA kids that don’t even have the meager aspirations that The Germs or Black Flag had.

Yeah, unless you’re a serious home theater geek (like me), it’s probably not necessary.
I will be cranking this one for sure.

Give me a little more credit than that, bro…
Dangerousminds is such a great website…there is even a post about Ministry over there today…
If anybody is interested, Arclight Hollywood is screening the original Decline of Western Civilization on Thursday, June 25th. 7:30 PM showing. Q & A with Director Penelope Spheeris afterwards.
