Head of David

Heard these guys tossed about on the boards, so I picked up “Seed State” from my favorite used record shop for seven bucks. I read that the almighty JKB had something to do with the band, which makes perfect sense, as this disc is nothing but beat-driven industrial in the vein of Godflesh and Loop. However, scanning the liner notes, I realized that Broadrick wasn’t even in the band for this one.

Crazy, considering how much this record is almost a poppier “Pure.”

The video for “How Primitive Are You?” entertains me simply because the vocalist looks exactly like a teacher I had back in grade school.

Standout tracks:
Human Feel: SERIOUSLY sounds like something off Pure or Selfless, yet predates that by a good year or two. Crazy.
Kingdom Crawl: Good hangover song, as this past week can attest to.
Zen Walker: Comes off as a harder Dessau, which always gets my blood pumping.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Memories? Similar acts I might wanna scope out?

(Much better, don’t you think, Olsen? [;)])

Good band. I remember being shocked when I saw Fear Factory covered Dog Day Sunrise on Demanufacture.

get Dustbowl.

I too have never delved into Head Of David.

If I remember rightly Broadrick just played drums with them didn’t he?

and backing vocals

All of us here at Prongs are too![cool]

I’ve never heard them.

Although I did turn down the opportunity to see them in London in 1989 while I was over there visiting relatives.

Broadrick is only on Dustbowl. He was the drummer. That album is tops. The previous album, called “LP” cleverly enough (“CD” if you get the cd version of it, also clever) is excellent as well. Seed State is terrible. Especially compared to the previous 2.

Their old/current bassist Dave Cochran is also in Jesu, Grey Machine, Coutesy Group and Transitioal (highly recommended, Transitional destroys) and was also in Sweet Tooth, God and Ice. All top notch projects.

Again. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Transitional. Tis DAR and brings the NANG. As it were.

… Uh?

he said ‘it’s fucking good and bass-y’

I don’t know what transitional he was listening to. I have “nothing real nothing absent” and while it wasn’t the worst shit ever I would’nt say it’s anything special either.

Aight. Avalancher lingo?

The beginning of ‘Love, Hate Slugbaiting’ is taken from a Head Of David gig.

Awesome song that one.
