Have you seen this child? (Missing peeps!)

[quote]
But I do agree with ol’ Christ-y here, to some extent…where have all these peeps gone to? Especially Krowe. Where is he? I really miss the guy. I’m getting bored andI need a sparing partner. Someone to challenge me. Doesn’t anyone keep in contact with him?[/reply]

Dammit Peligro, I was sleeping. Naw man… That made me smile… I didn’t think you liked me at all. Seems I DO get under your skin the same way you get under mine.

GOOD. =)
Let the spar begin. =)

I haven’t dropped off yet peeps… I’ve been coming here for… jeezus… longer than I can remember. And I’m not ever going to leave. Hell… Ask Afra… I helped him redesign this whole place. I’ve just been busy as hell lately cuz I’m moving (YET AGAIN) and have a baby on the way…

So… I got two bones to pick with ya Pel and Co… Of course, you knew I wasn’t going to jump in here and not rant for a minute so… First off… I’ve watched all the comments and posts for the last few years, and yeah, since Paul got BOOTED (he didn’t leave folks, hate it for ya) the retorts are all ugly and wretchedly hateful. Well ya know what peeps? It’s still the best damn music I’ve heard in AGES. You guys might not like it but I sure as hell do. Animosity, Houses, Rant, RGB… ESPECIALLY RGB. Great stuff. It may seem like the same old, re-hashed crap to you guys but I’m out here going to shows and listening to all these cough cough “great” hack wheeze bands and their SHITE and Ministry is still slaying it. Yeah, it’s speedier and thrashier, and it’s still Bush hating, BUT… A) Al has more energy and is pumping out music and putting on DAMN good shows (and for all you people that say it’s too loud GET EAR PLUGS. Ministry has been this loud since LORAH and you all know it!)… B) Everybody hates Bush. Even Republicans and people who don’t care about politics hate Bush. He’s just singing the crap that ALL of us are walking around bitching about and saying everyday anyways. We just don’t put music to it… And C) All the so called “great new music” that everyone talks about is hopelessly lame and uninspired. Oooo! They can play fast or technical! OHHH! They can play great grudgy riffs and not sing, they are so cool! OMG! Tool’s new album is so “progressive”!

ICK. It’s Lateralus pt. II. Unearth and Black Dahlia Murder and Isis and all that stuff that I’ve been seeing people speak about is a far cry from anything I used to call music. Ministry is HEAVIER than all the bands out right now, with of course the exceptions to true pioneers like (as was mentioned earlier) Slayer. Al’s music isn’t watered down and tired, people. WE are. Wake up and suck down some black coffee and bang your head into the table and enjoy the ride. It’s been a great 25+ years and we won’t get to keep Ministry forever so PLEASE QUIT WHINING AND BE HAPPY THAT WE HAVE ANYTHING AT ALL TO KEEP US PACIFIED MORE THAN THE WEAK, PATHETIC TRIPE THE RADIO AND “SCENE” KEEP HANDING US.

There… That’s my defensive, “get off my Ministry back” bit.

And secondly… This really isn’t a bone but more of a nod and tip of the hat to ol’ Peligro. Mr. Man… You were right about that thread we had going not to long ago. I’m getting a bit older now and seeing things a bit differently, and now that I have a little one on the way I’ve had to do some really introspective thinking about myself, habits and lifestyle. You’re right. There comes a time when you have to set the old stuff aside and embrace life itself. I’ve quit damn near all my drugs. I’m starting quitting cigarettes tomorrow morning (only got 2 left in my pack before bed), and I’m toning down on my drinking. It’s bad for me, and I can finally feel some of the effects of what I’ve been doing to myself all these years and I damn sure don’t want to raise my child in the environment and lifestyle that I’ve been leading. Thank you for the viewpoint. I never looked at myself from an outsider’s perspective. And besides… you know you’re my favorite asshole. =)

Anyways… That’s it… I’m out for the night peeps… See ya around the board from time to time.

Peace!

Krowe

P.S. - BTW… Does anyone know if there is a boot from the New Orleans show this tour? I’d really like to snag a copy if there is… I was the only guy who got kicked out AND let back in (MWAHAHAHA! Angie loves me! Thanks Mrs. J!)…

… That made me smile… I didn’t think you liked me at all.

Why? I don’t even know you.

…I’m moving (YET AGAIN) and have a baby on the way…

Good. Congrats.

Hmmmm…glad we got that outta the way…

've watched all the comments and posts for the last few years, and yeah, since Paul got BOOTED the retorts are all ugly and wretchedly hateful.

Nah, the posts here have always been of the hateful kind, dontcha know.

And Paul was a big girly girl with bony arms…please refrain from mentioning him again.

Thankyou.

Well ya know what peeps? It’s still the best damn music I’ve heard in AGES.

Sorry, but you are in denial. If RGB is the best sounding new music to yr little ol’ ears, then you oughta get out more, Shirley.

RGB is Motorhead with samples.

I’m out here going to shows and listening to all these cough cough “great” hack wheeze bands and their SHITE and Ministry is still slaying it.

But what are you comparing it to tho’? There’s plenty of good new music out there. Heaps. Yr just not looking hard enough.

A tip:

Knock yrself out.

Everybody hates Bush. Even Republicans and people who don’t care about politics hate Bush.

Debatable, but decent point.

What ‘new music that everyone talks about’? Tool? Surely you can think of better examples than Tool. And Ministry has become ‘lame and hopelessly uninspired’.

Ministry is HEAVIER than all the bands out right now, with of course the exceptions to true pioneers like (as was mentioned earlier) Slayer.

So, it’s heavy. Big deal. Who care’s if the music’s heavy? What kind of argument is that? Merzbow is heavier than Ministry, but you don’t see him laying golden eggs over the fact, do ya? Ministry’s music has become generic and self repeating. Explain to me what it is that you think he’s doing now that he wasn’t doing fifteen years ago ALOT BETTER!!! The lyrics are boring, one dimensionsal nonsensical rants (check out ‘lieslieslies’ for further proof), that break absolutley no new ground whatsoever. Crass and Anti Nowhere League were exploring similar territory in the eighties. And it was hardly revolutionary THEN!

Dull heavy metal riff, sample, insert lyric condemning American government as ‘evil’ and ‘corrupt’, dull heavy heavy guitar solo, sample etc etc…seems to be the order of the day.

I mean, if that’s yr kind of thing…then so be it. I’m not going to lose any sleep. Hey, it’s better than…oh, Iron Maiden for example.

Just as long as we don’t lose sight of the big picture and remember to call a spade a spade.

And regarding Slayer: have you heard their new material? It is woeful with a capital ‘O’’.

I’ve quit damn near all my drugs. I’m starting quitting cigarettes tomorrow morning (only got 2 left in my pack before bed), and I’m toning down on my drinking. It’s bad for me, and I can finally feel some of the effects of what I’ve been doing to myself all these years …

Ultimately that’s nice and all…I guess.

Yeah, whatever.

RGB is Motorhead with samples.

[laugh] First Slayer now Motörhead…

Do you guys even know what you are talking about? But please, continue, it’s so funny!.. [:)]

there’s been lots of great music this year so far…Jesu, Final, Primal Scream, Gomez and so on. sadly, I rank Ministry at the bottom, just above the new RevCo. Just my tastes though.

This is funny to me…

Well I dunno where you get the idea that Tool is supposed to be the hot new thing or whatever, but I wouldn’t say Lateralus and 10,000 Days are too similar.

As for Isis…wtf haha…some of their songs are actually very “musical”…at times they are a hell of a lot more melodic than anything Ministry has done in fact. There are some beautiful songs on their recent remix album with female vocals that are quite melodic. They are a good band don’t dismiss them.

And sorry but you guys aren’t just old and jaded ok? I’m fucking 20 years old and I can still smell a rat with the new Ministry material. It does recall stuff like Motorhead and Slayer and it is cheesy. Then again I feel the same way about songs like “Hero” from Psalm 69. I’m not saying Ministry has never flirted with that straight up metal sound, but now they’ve totally delved into it.

This aint the hardest shit out there by a longshot…not that “heaviness” is any indication of quality, but…nah

Trust me my “fist pumping banging my head on the table black coffee” days are far from over but I still don’t see the new Ministry material in much of a creative light.

I’m not expecting Al Jourgensen to go out and make like a fuckin Pink Anvil type record or some avante noise rock shit…but I also don’t understand why they spent so many years distancing themselves from that balls-to-the-walls-heavy-metal approach only to cave in and become a carbon copy of those bands…

I remember an interview where Al and Paul talk about how bands like Metallica were into them and wanted to help them out with a manager and Ministry was “yeah whatever cool we’re glad they’re into us but we don’t like that kind of music. we came into this whole heavy thing from the other side of the fence…we have different aesthetics etc.”

I don’t want to be too negative. If it helps I really loved Animositisomina. And like I said aspects of Houses of the Mole are growing on me. I can’t wait to hear Jourgensen’s last album and I will buy it just like I’ve bought all the other Ministry shit.

If you’re looking for inspiring new shit (you mentioned you like melodic stuff) maybe check out The Coma Lilies they make gorgeous epic complex postrock that is really very good.

Check out: myspace.com/thecomalilies

And also as someone else mentioned everything that has come out under the Jesu moniker so far has been excellent. That new Silver EP is sweet!

RGB is Motorhead with samples.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

As far as new, heavy, inspriring music goes, I had high hopes for a band called Theory Of Ruin. They put out a great LP in 2002 called Counter-culture Nosebleed that recalled the energy and themes of Fugazi and, at times, the early punk aesthetics of Killing Joke (I’ve probably mentioned them before here). I check their website occasionally for new stuff and updates, but it seems that nothing much is going on. They released an EP in 2004, which I still haven’t acquired, but I can’t recommend that first album enough. It’s a shame we don’t hear more from them.

1002

i dont understand what’s the deal with tool bashing…

I was the only guy who got kicked out AND let back in (MWAHAHAHA! Angie loves me! Thanks Mrs. J!)…

Ok I’ll bite. Kicked out for…? Crowd surfing? stage romping? what?

[reply]

Yeah, agreed. I don’t think that anyone would accuse Tool of being innovative leaders at the moment. Evn when compared to other middle of the road acts, they still seem rather…middle of the road.

Having said that, ‘10000 Days’ has its moments. Not many of them, but it does have 'em.

[reply]I’m fucking 20 years old and I can still smell a rat with the new Ministry material. It does recall stuff like Motorhead and Slayer and it is cheesy.

Whenever I am driving around with friends and throw on the new Ministry material, I always get the same response. It goes somewhere along the lines of : What is this? Is this…Ministry? OMG this is terrible. And they’re STILL crappin’ on about Bush? WTF? Have these guys run out of material or what?

The only people that seem to be defending the material are diehards. You don’t hear many people saying: Y’know I heard that band Ministry the other for the first and I must say it’s absolutely light years ahead of the nearest competition.

I wonder why?

This aint the hardest shit out there by a longshot…not that “heaviness” is any indication of quality, but…nah

It isn’t terrible. I’ve heard worse…MUCH WORSE. Some of it stands up, some of it falls flat. He just seems too eager to win us over politically, rather than come up with anything musically creative. There’s very little sonic exploration, which is a shame seeing as that was the very reason I came to the table in the first place.

In the early nineties, there was nothing else around that was anything like Thieves or Golden Dawn - with maybe the xception of Killing Joke. But they had run out of steam by that point anyway. Sadly.

True. But I think Paul had a lot to do with the creative path that the music began to take with Rape And Honey. You listen to early Ministry - it’s all rather ‘safe’ isn’t it? And lyrically it was pretty laughable before Paul came along.

Metallica were into Minstry? Suddenly I don’t feel so good.

I do kind of feel bad for new fans - a lot of metalheads are being drug to these concerts by friends, being exposed to retardedly loud Bush-bashing, and they think “Hey, this is great!”
Maybe they buy a Ministry CD on the way home. Maybe it’s Twitch.
“What…what the fuck is this gaywad shit? Is that a keyboard? FUCK! Let’s go beat someone up!”

And back to the point of this thread, it’s nice to see some of you guys again! Cheers.

One stage dive and 3 crowd surfs. Thats’ all. Oh yeah. And starting the pit and making sure that it never died while I was in there. That’s all. Nothing too horrible and I’m a VERY poliye mosher. I’ll pick you up off the ground and throw you out if your beat down or whatnot.

Peace!

Krowe

P.S. - Yeah… BTW… Good to see you all again… Wish I could be more active on the board with my “non-educated opinionated ass” but I have to get at it when I can… Pell… I’ll get back at you on all that because I do have valid points on it all…

BUT… Good to see you all again and I hope to see you more often or as much as I can manage…

Peace!
