Harry Potter

Does anyone here dislike Harry Potter (the films) as much as I do??

I’m sure there must be a few HATERS among us.

Vent yr anger HERE:

Yeah, they suck imo.

I’ve only seen half of the first one (I think it was the first one) but I hate all of them based on principle. [cool]

Care to elaborate on that??

I was hoping for more bile and venom spewing to be honest.

I also have an inexplicable dislike for HP… no idea why. I think it sort of boomed when I was about 17-18, and everyone at my school seemed to be reading it, while I was reading (probably equally as crap lol) wheel of time, and friends were trying to get me into fire and ice (still haven’t read it)…

Me: Isn’t that a kids book
Them: oh but it’s written so well, and blah blah blah gah blug blug muggle.
Me: blank stare

Maybe it was just the non-conformist in me , but from that point I shunned anything HP related and groaned whenever it was mentioned.
TBH it’s probably not that bad, I just cant help but cringe whenever I hear it being bought up.
Hopefully the fad is over within the next 2-3 years before my kid is old enough to be exposed to it, otherwise I’ll be subjected to it repeatedly if he gets into it despite my best efforts to show him otherwise.

the rest of my family are potterheads and they had the movie playing one Christmas. I wasn’t really watching and was in and out and around the room it was playing. I wasn’t really paying attention to it, couldn’t even tell ya what it was about. just seems too marketed… you know the way everyone raved about Titanic how that was the “THE MUST SEE MOVIE.” Well that’s how I see harry potter and so since everyone wants to sell me on it, fuck you, I’m digging in my heels and refuse to fall victim to marketing. Still haven’t seen Titanic either!

He’s a cunt

He’s a cunt

I know.

And I just want to slap his mooney, goonboy face repeatedly as I yell that out to him.

Although, I wouldn’t say NO to that little Hermione bitch.

She can hex me anyday. Oil up my greasy broomstick and all!

Here’s something to put you off Ms. Watson:

(It’s a bit photoshopped but still… creepy)

I am completely indifferent to Harry Potter.

Still haven’t seen Titanic either!

we have alot in common… i still refuse to see this movie either, although billy zane was the shit in tales from the crypt demon knight and i know he’s in it as the villian so I was temped when i found that out recently… but still uhm, no… leo’s great in other movies but the hype never meets my expectations

I find it creepy when adults are into Harry Potter.

well how about the harry potter bands? kinda like led zep sang about lord of the rings, but these people are hard core and get all in the hogwarshes gear and put the mark on thier heads and sing about that weird jiggish game or whatever… google it if you don’t believe me… i’m sure i’m fucking up the lingo though

It’s kinda funny. I’ve never had a strong hatred towards Potter, nor do I like the movies or books. If there’s anything I can’t stand, it’s those movies based on real-life events like Titanic, Pearl Harbor, The Alamo, and that one with the US hockey team beating the USSR.

I used to work at a video store a few years back and whenever I saw another one of those types of movies coming out, I always thought to myself, “Gee, I wonder how it ends? Does the ship sink?” I even had a customer ask me what “The Alamo” was about. I thought he was joking at first.

I was the manager of a mom and pop video store for 5 years in the 90s so I feel your pain. I found that the vast majority of people wanted to watch stuff that they didn’t have to think an iota about; they just got off work so they weren’t in the mood for something deep or heavy.

As for Harry Potter, I find the whole phenomenon rather innocuous as at least it got a lot of people who would normally never even pick up a book to read one. The books themselves are at best mediocre with pretty standard themes of good vs evil; at worst mind numbingly boring. Half of the last book was spent in a tent in the woods for months as they argued about what to do. yawn.

The problem I have is with asshats who try to get it banned for religious reasons, the same people who try to get books like “The Catcher in the Rye” out of public libraries. They label it as a “gateway drug” to darker things like witchcraft, and satanism. A complete load of hogwash. I’ve met several people with this attitude, and they are hilarious.

The actor that plays the Harry Potter character has two facial expressions: confused and scared.

He looks the part but couldn’t act his way through a toilet hygeine commercial.

I’ve been dragged to two Harry Potter films by two different girlfriends. Both times said girlfriends were as excited as hell about seeing the film despite my warnings that the film would indeed be “shithouse” and that they would regret it immensely. And both times these warning were met with giddy denial. And what happens when the films were over and I had asked them both the same question as to what hey thought of the film…?

“Yeah…it was pretty…stupid”.

Word! Potter’s saving grace! I’ve said exactly this several times myself!

SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE

But seriously, the books are aight. Rowling’s an absolute cock and a half to my knowledge, but whatev. Movies pissed me off.

Fun story: I saw Order of the Phoenix on opening night with a bunch of friends and about EIGHT FUCKING MILLION 14-year-old jaibait girls dressed as Hogwarts students… and was pissed off that my absolute favorite part of the series (Ron getting his head virtually tentacle raped by a disembodied brain in the Department of Mysteries) was left out of the movie, earning a scream of “WHERE WERE THE FUCKING BRAINS?!” at the credits. Some laughed, most avoided me on the way out.

lol…

reminds me of this one time during my high school graduation pracice, i was talking to my friend and the teacher was rambling loud on the mic and nobody could really hear us and i forget the context of the sentence, but the second i said “if i have to sit in this fucking pink chair any longer i’m going to take a dump on it and fling it at the fucking podium and you gotta skullfuck the one who gets the most shit on them” (we were seated in those lunchroom style plastic chairs of varying colors)… then in unison my whole grade just turns around at once and gave me a look of sheer terror mixed with disgust.
