You mean that sarcastically? Or did you like it? I thought it was good - albeit there were far too many ballads.
It’s all studio tricks. Tons of reverb, distortion, fake strings etc. Goes on and on.
And to top it all off, it’s just overall bad songwriting. Bad melodies, bad lyrics. Shocker. Maybe because he didn’t get an Izzy, Duff, or Slash to co-write that stuff. I would typically not fault him for that, but…fifteen YEARS…

You are fastly becoming my favorite here, JLW.
Chinese democracy was horrible…
3 songs maybe 4 are decent but other than that it’s the worst album Lincoln Park ever made!!
And yeah Izzy was the driving force behind the OG GNR song writing…
His solo albums are a bit too southern rock compared to GNR. His Japan only release “Ride On” is probably his best solo release.

Gunnar-
what is the spankworthiness of Axl Rose, and can you enlighten us as to the history and development of, the science behind, and applications of the spankworthiness scale as it is presently understood? What were the precursors in use before the development of the modern spankworthiness scale?
This scientific graph explains everything . . . .
I hope this helps,
Gunnar
Wow

Yep. From ROCK to ROCK BOTTOM. It’s a brutal ride, Kids.
I didn’t even put the one up where he looks like Sir Mix-a-Lot.
Dear Gunnar-
Have you ever been sickened by the news of an ex-fiancee you were with for 10 years fucking her daughters young friend? If so,how do you stop the dry heaves that accompany it?

No, I haven’t.

Awesome, and it only took what, 6-7 years? [laugh]
Just needed to bring this thread back. So is Erie gonna finish that COF album?
^
Sorry, it’s on hiatus. He’s currently distracted by Farrell’s “Cradle of Hot Fudge Sundae”.
I hope this helps,
Gunnar
Talkin about that hip hop guy? He hasn’t done anything relevant in like 6 years.
Farrell’s was before your time, I think, Eureka . . . but for any of y’all 35 years of age or older, you may remember (I hope this wasn’t just a west coast thing) the ice cream parlour . . . FARRELL’S.
You see, in the early to mid 80’s if you wanted to ensure you were a badass in elementary school with a buttload of friends you would have your birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, or FARRELL’s.
Farrell’s is one of these kooky old timey wacky fun ice cream places where they’d sing songs and bring out TROUGHS of ice cream (yeah, like a communal trough . . . it’s disgusting to think of now, but it is BADASS when you’re 8).
Remember in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure when Napoleon has horned in on that kid’s birthday party? Yeah, that’s a straight nod to FARRELL’s.
One just opened near my house. I don’t know why 25 years later they’ve decided to make a “comeback”. But, we’ll see . . . maybe kids are sick of bouncy houses and laser tag and once again ready to get back to their roots!
Gunnar!!!Dude,I can’t believe you busted out with the Farrell’s…holy shit!!! I live in Miami and there was one down here in the 70’s and 80’s that I went to all the time as a kid…I’m 41 now so it was a good while back that they closed…it was in a mall called Westland Mall…it was like the Disneyworld of theme restaurants…
I always remember the giant circular multi colored lollipops and the crazy sundaes and shit with fucking sparklers in them for the birthday boys and girls…wow some serious childhood memories you resurrected there…
Can’t believe they are trying to bring them back…I thought the name and the company folded to the point of no return…that’s cool they are coming back but you just know it won’t be the same…
Right on, Brother! I sometimes talk about stuff that I think everyone had just to find out it was only a West Coast or California thing, so I’m glad to hear that Farrell’s was out East too.
I hope I’m not confusing it with another place, but I kind of remember them running around the restaurant with someone on a stretcher. I think if you finished some big mega thing of ice cream the birthday kid gets thrown on a stretcher and paraded around the place. But yeah, it was total birthday party MECCA.
There was another restaurant down here that had a few other locations, I guess, which was called BOBBY MCGEE’S and they had stupid themed waiters that would tell horrible jokes and you could get a root beer float in a big mug shaped like a boot.
Man, the 80’s were just insane. But yeah, if you’re 41 now you were in my Farrell’s era.
I was really surprised when just a couple months ago I saw the sign for the Farrell’s place. I just kind of scratched my head as it seemed so out of place and in the wrong era. Kind of like opening up a roller skating rink or something. What the heck?
Definitely on the east coast also…not just down here in the southeast as I remember someone from Connecticut telling me there was one there also…wow, what a blast from the past…and you know I vaguely remember the whole carrying the person on the stretcher thing also but can’t remember if it was Farrells or not…it would surely fit in with the wackiness of the place…definitely lot’s of singing and carrying on though…man, thanks for bringing back those memories…
Don’t think we had Bobby Mcgees down here though…
I just typed “Farrell’s Stretcher” into Bing and found this:
I think they bring the mega bowls of frozen goodness out on the stretcher and then when you finish it they give you a ride or something. I mean, that thing looks pretty dang solid! I think it’s built for exactly what we remembered it being used for.
THIS is EXACTLY what it was like at Farrell’s back in the day . . . .
Remember in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure when Napoleon has horned in on that kid’s birthday party? Yeah, that’s a straight nod to FARRELL’s.
That was actually filmed at Farrell’s at Metrocenter, a popular mall in Phoenix, back in '88. Actually, most if not all of the movie was filmed in Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, including the high school and water park (both still exist). The ice skating rink is long gone at Metrocenter, and of course Farrell’s was put in the Iron Maiden some time around the beginning of the '90s.
