anybody have any pop bands/songs that they like that are just totally out of the normalcy of what you would normally listen to?
I find myself liking that song by Nikki Sixx, “6am”
and “hey there delilah” by the plain white T’s. You know how much trim I coulda got had I wrote that simple song back in highschool or college? Man, what coulda been!

Closest I get to a pop song is Nirvana.
Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson. Guilty as charged.
Cause you ain’t no hollaback girl?
I’m not going close to this one. With a wife and kid who love pop music, I find myself not minding it more and more these days.
I’ll admit to Rihanna though. But I think it’s just cause I like to look at her.
At least there is hope with my youngest. He’s only 4 and is able to sing Blitzkreig Bop on Rockband and pass. And he always asks to hear the Ramones in my car. That makes me happy.
I’ve got a Kid Rock song on my iPod and a cd each by Korn and Evanescence on my shelf. Some people have criticized my Abba and Emmylou Harris.
But even that stuff I’m not really ashamed of. I like it. So fucking what?

I care!
i don’t listen to anything that doesn’t rule. (is that a double negative?)
listening to obama giving a speech now, wherein he told the crowd not to boo at his comments about mccain. he said, don’t boo, JUST VOTE.
i can listen to abba anytime too.
I have ‘Party Hard’ by Andrew WK on my ipod…
Time to have my rivethead license suspended, pop music isnt as horrible and annoying as hip-hop so this shouldnt be too embarassing. I dont listen to pop much but in the car my sister controls the radio most of the time. I did like that Nelly Furtado song Say It Right, and recently i was into the I Kissed A Girl song i used to sing it in public to, of course i changed the lyrics “I Fucked a Girl and i liked it”.
I don’t even think this is a guilty pleasure but Kylie Minogue? I don’t listen to her albums but I think her voice is stellar as well as her remixes (which I enjoy listening to). I really think she has a good ear for good music through the talent she chooses to remix her stuff. She has an outstanding voice - no-one can argue this.
The strength of her voice became more evident to me when I heard someone else singing on a demo version of Nick Cave’s “Where The Wild Roses Grow” (which thankfully she sang for the final released version). The other voice on the demo just killed the song for me but in the released version, her voice really made that song.
If a voice is good, it’s good. End of story. Furtado (as another post noted) also has a great voice.
k.d.lang. never thought i would like that woman’s contribution to music history, but i heard something yesterday while driving around, and it was so hillbilly and rich. and i’m too distracted to remember the song, but she was great. reminded me of the sixties"wup my man with a fry pan "loretta lynn and tammy wynette and patsy cline.lang’s a great singer and tony bennett picked up on that, and good for him.
oh geez. now i need to go get some lesbo music. ah, so what. great voice.
Chicago.
wow. chicago.
probably heard it endlessly in highschool.
lowelly is currently in the running for top dog in the embarrassment column.

Dude, that’s Blixa Bargeld on the demo!
Don’t be dissin’ on Blixa!

carmangary. you be lovin’ those hairdos.

Oh, I don’t knock Blixa but his voice wasn’t suited for the song. He was great in the Weeping Song and backing vocals to majority of Cave’s songs but with this song in particular, the award goes to Kylie. And obviously, Cave supported it - he used her for the final cut. She did a superb job and let’s face it - it wouldn’t have been a top 10 hit without her on it
Besides, two guys singing that song to each other - haha
