Al’s been getting grammy nods since “Bad Blood” so I don’t think it’s that. I think for whatever reason these people have decided to recognize Ministry as a “seminal heavy metal band” or whatever…
I don’t particularly understand it myself, especially since Ministry was already well into mainstream decline when this all started…
al and everyone related got grammy nods far before that. look it up. he’s not the solo member of that band. altho the current contingent seems to think so.
What I don’t understand though, is that Ministry hardly gets any radio play. The albums aren’t charting. Their publicity is very low-key. Low-key enough that it’s WAY under the radar, but still, gets grammy nominations. Especially, when they’re nominating a song from off a live album. There has to be someone there who has some favoritism towards Al. Just has to be.
Grammy’s and most “award shows” are ridiculous. Look at the RnR Hall of Fame: so much bullshit…Rush…come on!
Rush, Kiss, and Alice Cooper aren’t in for political reasons - not musical politics, but real world politics. The guy in charge of the Hall of Fame won’t admit them because they’re not liberals.

Well that might explain why Al is getting so many nominations. I mean he is the most vocally anti-Bush of all the “metal dudes”…
But it still doesn’t explain “Bad Blood” being nominated, which is just…bizarre…
I agree there must be some kind of connection Al has. There’s no way around it…
Do the Grammy organisers have a list in their office of bands that ‘constitutes acceptable hard rock’?
Do they consult this chart when making a nomination?
“Let’s see…going down the list here…oh I see Ministry have released another album…yes they’re a politically and socially concious band…oh and they’re liberals too…so that means they’re a politically and socially concious band who vote for the right team…well I’ll give em my vote…again…”
it’s a voting process which starts a couple of months earlier. you can submit yourself as long as you’re a member of naras. you qualify with membership if you have x number of releases, etc. pay your annual dues, etc.you can vote for yourself (one time). then it all gets whittled down to the final nominations. yeah, it’s fairly political, but occasionally there’s the “HuH?” nominee. probably also political.
