The ad for the “Not a Liberal” bumper sticker was a dead give-away.

Well, not really. I go to an overtly liberal blog and they have blatantly right wing ads on their site. It’s because advertisers buy up blocks of web space on web pages and then the companies that place the ads don’t discriminate which advertisements go where. I asked about it a couple years ago on an open thread in the blog. and that was roughly the answer I got. I don’t remember specifically the answer, but that’s close enough to the right answer.

I wish I was paid to sit at home and NOT WORK. I would be watching “People’s Court” right now with a bigass bag of Cheetohs and a case of Lucky Lager.
You could become a teacher and get paid to sit in a room all day because you have been accused of misconduct and are awaiting the hearing.
I would love to be at work doing what I do. My boss called me today to ask me if I was doing ok. He told me they sent emails out to everyone and to check my email for unemployment benefits information.
I am going to see Danzig/Doyle/APHND tonight in Tampa. Therefore I’m not home sofa surfing.

I wasn’t implying that you were “sofa surfing”, Mooney. I was just having a bit of a daydream moment, because if I was put on “indefinite paid vacation” I would definitely get some good couch time in.
Enjoy the Danzig/Doyle show . . . Grumpy and I saw it in April and it was phenomenal.
An indefinate paid vacation where you can’t go anywhere because you may have to go to work in the morning if a CR or appropriations are passed. If you don’t show up for duty, you get sacked.
I cancelled my speaking engagement in Baltimore. I can’t get my travel order.

Well, you can still go around anywhere as long as you are able to make it to the office the next morning. That does pose an interesting question, though . . . . did they tell you how much of a warning you have if/when they end the so-called “shutdown”? Is it just automatically the next day you have to go, or do they give a one day warning or anything?
I cancelled my speaking engagement in Baltimore. I can’t get my travel order.
If you’d already scheduled this with your team, though, you should still be allowed to take those days to do your commitment, right?
Travel, I suppose, might be another story . . . if it is arranged by someone else in your office and/or you don’t get reimbursed for arranging your own I guess you’re kind of stuck.

??? what the hell?

She’s sayin’, “Don’t sweat the charges, Brah! You’ll still get paid!” HHHIIIIIYYYYOOOO!!!
It’s the following morning: check the news or call the duty station status phone number. So yeah, as long as I can get there by 9am. I work 4 time zones, which lets me go in later than production personnel.
P-67 got it. Rubber room.
I arrived when APHND was on stage. The crowd had no love for them, but THC has a following here.

Our travel process is more complicated than it needs to be, smfry. It is one of those things that makes me very annoyed with rules and regulations.

There are quite a few in New York. It’s called the rubber room.

That on the surface seems like bullshit, but if all it takes is an accusation to ruin someone’s career and bankrupt them I understand the reason for paying them while they’re being investigated… however, if they’e found guilty they should have to pay that money back. If they’re innocent then it’s ok that they were taken care of, no?
you want propaganda, how about this shit…
Mayor Bloomberg denounced the centers as an “expensive abuse of tenure.”
Tenure doesn’t have shit to do with it, it’s called due process, and yea, due process is expensive, but fuck all that, because we as american citizens are entitled to due process.
“Hey, I hear prologue and mooney like to diddle little kids.” because someone makes an accusation should you be fired and lose your job? and what are you to do in the mean time while you’re waiting for your hearing?
While the practice sounds egregious, 200 teachers in a city the size of New York (where there are easily 50,000 teachers) is not that many, they are playing on the salary angle to piss people off. It’s not like it’s hundreds of millions given to 10 pinhead executives in the form of bonuses for fucking us all over (investigation over and they still got paid HUGE).
Tenure has saved more good teachers than bad from cliquey, shitty ass power hungry administrators from firing full credentialed teachers and hiring their incompetent unqualified friends and family members.
Tenure insures democracy/dialogue in the work place without being scared that the boss will fire you because you had brass enough to challenge a bad policy or speak your mind on a shitty procedure. IE speak open and honestly.

Har Har!! [laugh]
Now that’s the smrfy I know.
I started the travel request and needed the WBS (charge code) to finish it. That didn’t happen prior to 1 Oct. even if it had, it wouldn’t have been finished for me to travel because nobody is at work and it’s a huge multi-step process.
It is also seriously frowned upon to do it after the fact. I have been scolded twice already for doing that.

I’m totally on board with all of that, Dude.
And schools, especially, is just a hot-bed incubator of false (sometimes life-ruining) accusations. So, yeah, DUE PROCESS.
And if it doesn’t serve the public well to have such people in/at the school during these times, then maybe a rubber room is what is needed (though it seems like maybe a personnel exchange program where we put 'em in the back filing papers or something might work too . . . use 'em in temp type of positions).
Anyway, due process all the way . . . and if it turns out the accused guilty of molesting the kids or something . . . . strip him of everything, and make the bastard pay.
It is also seriously frowned upon to do it after the fact. I have been scolded twice already for doing that.
You’re a rebel!
Yeah, I was replying to Gunnar about the travel and not smrfy. Sorry.
That’s what happens when replying on my mobile during the set change.
Show was good. Doyle still looks the same, rock hard abs. Tommy looked like he was having a good time. Security was all over people taking photos and videos on their phones. Some guy got escorted out after Glenn pointed him out.
