Going to Chicago - Ministry Sites

Hey, I’m going to Chicago for a business trip in a couple of weeks. Other than the Wax Trax building, what are some other Ministry/Al Jourgensen sites I could check out while I’m there? And wasn’t there a petition to stop the demolition of the Wax Trax building?

You can go track down Martin Atkins and see if he will sell you a piece of the Ministry cage and some Gub and Fook cd’s for the low price of $1,999…

Turns out the Wax Trax! building will be way too far to walk to, and I won’t have time for an adventure, so maybe next time.

Unfortunate you cannot see it as it is a beautiful if understated facade. To clarify, however, the building (2449 North Lincoln Avenue) is not presently at risk of demolition and currently houses a dentist. The petition that was circulated was in support of giving the building Chicago municipal landmark status. That would prevent any future demolition or exterior alterations, if approved.

Yeah, looks like about an hour walk, or figuring out what bus to take. I won’t have time to fit that in. But, I think I’ll be able to visit the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Apparently that’s where Al Jourgensen had the opportunity to experiment with synths. To this day the School’s Sound Department maintains a selection of vintage synths. That’s worth looking into because I’m quite fond of vintage analog synths.
