Its been confirmed that Godflesh will reunite for what is most likely to be a single show at next year’s Hellfest in France. I think I’ll be saving up some cash to go there.
Personally, I still prefer good old flesh over Jesu, so this is great news indeed!!
I thought JKB said recently that Green was completely finished with music so a Godflesh reunion was out of the question. If this is true its big news. Are there any official notices?
I heard about this “vicious” rumor quite a few days back and you’ve got about as much chance of another Ministry world tour with Jourgensen, Barker, Rieflin & Scaccia as you do of Broadrick doing a one off Godflesh gig as part of some Euro Metal festival that Earache are pushing.
The truth should come from the horses mouth shortly but until then here’s a Braodrick interview that makes his stance on Godflesh pretty clear.

That interview is from a year ago though man. $$$$$$$$
Oh yeah I know. But I also know Justin feels the same today about Godflesh as he did one year ago sadly. I mean he makes himself pretty clear in that interview that Godflesh is done and dusted.
a couple of the Avalanche gents have attempted to get word from JKB himself. No tweet about it yet, also- Andy (Iroha, early Final) and D.Dalton (jesu) both said they know nothing about it.
Its not a rumor, I have this from a pretty solid source.
I cannot reveal the source though, so I guess we’ll just have to wait for Hellfest and JKB to confirm this news officially.
You dont have to take my word for it.
yeah but it was also at one point in time stated absolutely no skinny puppy reunion, no faith no more reunions, etc… and then it became “ok just for 1 festival” then nesxt thing you know bands back and touring
No one’s even sure about how much longer the FNM reunion’s going to even last. But I can’t see how long JKB would even want to continue Godflesh. That’s a whole lot of songs he retired there, so I couldn’t really blame him for wanting to dig those songs back up and play them again.
If this does happen its almost certainly a once only performance. It simply doesn’t make sense for JKB to turn his attention back to Godflesh with jesu only 5 years old and Godflesh retired what 6 or 7 years ago. Also if Green has quit music altogether thats different from the other reunions compared to as the musicians in those bands did not remove themselves from music entirely. Whoever asked JKB to do this (presuming it is genuine) must be a very good friend or else J owes him big time.
If its heavier stuff JKB wants to play he can do so through jesu. Opening up Godflesh again seems a bit regressive. But in saying that I never saw Godflesh live and if I could see them live now I definitely would.
Yes a one-off reunion would be nice especially if it was recorded for posterity. Despite being a Godflesh fan since Streetcleaner was released I never got around to seeing them live for one reason or another. I don’t know how many shows on the Last Rights tour they were able to do as the one I saw in Atlanta they weren’t there because of work visa issues. Puppy and Godflesh in one night would have been sweet.
As admired and revered as Godflesh is or has become, I somehow don’t see the promoters/Earache shelling out the big bucks to make this happen. It’s different with an act like Carcass that had over a decade of post-breakup activity in its wake, keeping interest alive with younger fans who weren’t around to see the band during its original run.
His work with Godflesh might now be legendary and influential and Jesu has renewed interest in that whole back catalog, but I don’t see commerce like this happening with something Broadrick himself vowed he has no interest in reviving.
