GASSSSSSSSSSSS

What the fuck is going on…I paid 3.80 for gas yesterday. I blame Bush not mother nature.

The main reason for the price increase in oil is China’s rapidly expanding economy which has created a huge demand boost. Their demand is up 20% from last year. As far as the US, the demand has risen because of strengthening economic recovery and greater need for higher grade crude oil suitable for processing into petrol (gasoline) for the fuel-hungry Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) popular with US drivers.

I drive maybe once every month - I usually commute by subway or walk it. However, I realize not all the US is like this, but, even though I don’t pay for gas, this still sucks for other things such as the environment. Also, they increased the cab fares here in Chicago because of all this. Oh well…

Those of you who don’t know Long Island…we have no walkways, not many buses and the train is not centrally located. I don’t have much of a choice but drive. I love to drive and commute a total of 50 miles a day. I guess the city has a few advantages

Yep, NPR nailed the real cause of the gas price rise (China)…however, it is scary the domino effect that rising gas prices have–especially when it comes to transporting goods across the country. All that additional cost gets passed along to the consumer sooner or later…and public transportation costs will keep going up as they try to cover their own fuel costs.

Hopefully this spurs the local governments to improve public transportation. It’s fucking awful here, buses stop at 12, wih the exception of a “Midnighter” bus on the weekends that goes every hour until 3 and doesn’t go past my house. If you’re out, you’re pretty much fucked and have to wait until they start again around 7, or take a cab which is pretty expensive unless you can split it and even then it isn’t exactly cheap.

Its about $2.85 now average out here in Honolulu…
and supposedly we’re going to have a gas price cap. Which should mean only $0.30 increase max in the rest of the year, dont know how they’re gonna do it. Traffic here is a BITCH, it’s like LA on the major freeways.

They keep building a new development of houses out here, pretty soon they’re going to run out of land in about 15 years if they keep the current pace.
