Frontline Assembly

Any recommendations? The only songs by them that I know of are Body Count and Vigilante, the latter of which is one of my favorite Indsutrial songs of all time.

My favourite FLA albums are Caustic Grip (1990) and Tactical Neural Implant (1992).

I have the Civilization album. It’s alright. Wouldn’t have even bothered if it weren’t for puppy.

Tactical Neural Implant’s pretty cool. I have that and the Virus single. Solid stuff.

the most industrial-metal ish record is prob hard wired has great synths, for an all electro dark one flavour of the weak is good

Can’t go wrong with Hard Wired. Layered with noise and heavy synths, I swear I find a new sound in each track everytime I listen to it, it’s probably my favorite album by them.

Also might want to give Corrosion a shot. It’s pretty simple straight-forward oldschool EBM.

there’re varying opinions on the albums, but live they’re pretty fucking awesome. first album i actually bought of theirs was hardwired, which had devin townsend on guitar (he also played on some other albums i think). I liked that. I quite like their last few albums too, but a lot of people don’t. oh well.

I once plagiarised the lyrics of ‘Vigilante’ for an English assignment in school. I got an A for my hard work. Thanks, Bill and/or Rhys!

I also recommend Caustic Grip and Tactical Neural Implant. The 1000 Years Of Decay Mix of Millenium from 1994 is one of the their best singles (essentially an extended version). In fact, many of their earlier Wax Trax 12" singles were great - Iceolate and Provision (both from Caustic Grip), and Digital Tension Dementia and No Limit (both from Gashed Senses and Crossfire). I’m a big fan of their early work on Corrosion and Disorder (87-88), both primitive-sounding early EBM records, and they even lift samples that 242 had already used in their songs. Their more recent releases seem forgettable and less distinct than their ‘classic’ work. They’ve edged more towards 4-to-the-floor electroclash in recent years, but then I haven’t heard their latest album Improvised Electronic Device to offer an opinion.

Sounds like TNI is the one to go with. Shall make a trip to the record store when I have the money.

millenium is glorious, but i think it depends more on what “type” of industrial yer looking for. caustic grip and tactical are more old schooly, millenium and such are more mid ninties all industrial must have guitar, then they got real electronic but still very abrasive. they have different periods/sounds, much like ministry records tend to.
