Don’t forget that Richard 23 was a founding member of RevCo. Perhaps alot of the original sound can be attributed partly to him…
V 1.0 from the original 12" is my personal favorite. Just a little longer arrangement than the album version, and the first version I heard/bought. I think that’s the mix I always heard at the clubs.
1002
Agreed. That crazy robot-violin intro just gets me going.

I recently picked up the Movements double CD live set from 242. Its has some good takes on some of the old tracks and some really poor takes but there’s at least a good 10 great tracks and the whole thing made me track down a lot of my older material and get it into my computer.
As I listen to the original “Principles/Body to Body” single it blows my mind how much the guitar reminds me of early Cabaret Voltaire. Those are amazing tracks and not at all what I expect from 242.
Funny. Going through a 242 craze right now though I never heard that live album.
“Headhunter” and “Until Death Do Us Part” are long time favorites. Played them on college radio (heavy rotation) back in the day.
Always thought it was a little ridiculous of them to release multiple tracks of the same song on their 2 disc version. Prefer the single disc rather than hear ing one song, then hear it again on the second. Practically the same and a waste for a few extras.
Yeah I get what you’re saying but then you’re missing Quite Unusual, No Shuffle and a few others. Easy enough to edit out the duplicate tracks using iTunes and, in the case of Commando, I think the two versions both warrant release.
Funny. Going through a 242 craze right now though I never heard that live album.
Probably worth downloading, I don’t think I’d fork over for the CD (used emusic for mine) as it’s nothing you’re going to use in a DJ set but it’s all fun to have anyhow. Sounds a lot more like you’d want live 242 to sound than RE:BOOT did.
Green Death, have you heard of MOTOR? You may like - they have that old school industrial sound but with a new electro sound. They have many good songs and here’s one:

They have many great tracks and both their albums are worth checking out especially Unhuman
I have the first MOTOR album and really dig it, didn’t know they had a second out. Thanks for the heads up, I gotta have!
Bryan Black from MOTOR made his name when he was in MPLS, he left right before I moved here so I unfortunately never got the chance to see Haloblack live, alas and alack.
BTW Afra, you heard KLOQ yet? I think you’ll dig them. You DJ quite a bit right? Try to get Out Of Line to send you a copy for DJ purposes.
Yeah I was looking for that - I’ll download it first and see though can’t find it on any sites.
If you liked Motor’s Klunk, you’ll love Unhuman. Another group you will definitely like is Franz and Shape, if you haven’t heard of them already. Btw, Cut Copy put on an awesome show as did the Presets a couple of weeks later. You may also like Luxxury…
Thanks for the tips Afra, don’t know Franz & Shape - will track down. I have dim memories of Luxxury but don’t remember details, I’ll dip in and dl the top couple tracks and see what I think.
I missed the last run through Cut Copy did, which broke my heart. Happy to hear they’re still great live - they deserve to be huge. I’ve never been blown away by the Presets but have been told they’re solid live.
Presets live have made me appreciate them so much more. Very solid.
Never got into them.
Like an overly politicised Devo with some annoying Euro twit barking commands over dull, tuneless industrial dance.
‘Up Evil’ was ok…in a ‘yeah I’d rather listen to this than, say, Dexys Midnight Runners if someone forced me at gunpoint’ kind of a way.
Back in the day Front 242 was one of my top 3: Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Front 242. Some of their songs are junk but the same goes for every other industrial band. That’s why it’s classified as experimental.
Amen. Those were the big three for me. Mind: TPI, Official Version, Twitch still stand up today as some of the best electronic music ever made.

Word up. Though “Up Evil” still reigns supreme.
Was listening to “W.Y.H.I.W.Y.G.” right now, too. Hell yes.
it always impressed me how easily they transitioned from stuff like operating tracks to quite unusual to the stuff on off or up evil. always been a favorite, but i have a soft spot for their 80’s stuff like u-men, and the like.
Listening to Headhunter right now. Good times.

242 is the shit… Saw them live during the Tyranny for You and Up Evil tours. Great shows.
