Friend of the Devil Lyrics, 1994 vs 2011

When I first heard the '11 Buck Satan cover of “Friend of the Devil”, I was annoyed that Al seemed to be mispronouncing “Emily” as “Emory”. Then I listened more closely and heard that he is actually singing “Anne Marie”… which it turns out is how the song by the Grateful Dead originally went.

So, who is “Emily” in the '94 version?

Who knows. He was probably smacked out.

Maybe he sing Fliend of the Devir in Engrish, loundeye!

bridge school cd has a proper performance version. if you listen to it on the bootleg, on the other night that they were playing the same set, al screwed up like 30% of the lyrics, saying “that’s what you get if you dont practice” or something at the end.

Yeah, that’s pretty funny. I got a copy of that from FilthPig. On part of it Al is totally lost and just babbling “Da da da da friend of the devil da da da da duh duh duh”. It’s cool, though. He seems so much more at ease and good humored back then. Nowadays he’d probably scream at the sound man or blame someone else.

i’ve been looking for that track forever! come someone PLEASE hook a brotha up?

try looking for new revelation or new revelations bootleg. it has two days recorded in full, although sound quality is kinda shit.
