I guess you know the obvious question. Maybe ask the other members (esp. Angie), in case you get the “not a jukebox” response from Al. You could phrase it like this: “Is there a reason you’re only playing songs from Psalm 69 and Mind during the encore? I’m surprised you skipped over so many albums for a farewell tour.” You could also ask if they’ve had time to read the feedback from the fans on the message boards. Hopefully anyone else here with VIP tickets will bring up the set list controversy to the band.

Precisely what came to mind when I first heard of that dude.
If you CAN, ask him if there are any plans to rerelease the back catalogue as remastered versions or with bonus tracks etc. Also if there are any more plans for a “rarities” releases like Side Trax & Early Trax or another live album.

heh, it’s a little too late to break it to him but i’m pretty sure the atlanta show vips didn’t have the meet & greet option. you have to check online and see which shows had it. i saw someone bitching about they no-showed the meet and greet in houston but i checked online for that one, there wasn’t one for vip. i got to meet al anyway.

Okay, here’s my report.
Hemlock: they were alright
Meshuggah: good, but I got tired of them fairly quickly
intro music: if this is on the upcoming RevCo, it’s already 10x better than the last RevCo
Ministry: The crowd got fired up by Let’s Go, NoW, RGB, and Sr. Peligro. Al made sure to mention when he started the HotM songs that they were “not really old, only semi-old”. Perhaps he noticed the bitching. He did yell “stop!” at the end of several songs, but a little research has shown me he’s been doing this as far back as Love Change.
Before the encore someone got a “Thieves! Liars!” chant going that seemed to do pretty well. Burton C. Bell did a good job on vox, and he was the only one in the band to take advantage of the fence prop to any degree. They tore up Thieves and the crowd was super into it. Al seemed genuinely stoked, and said he was going to put that performance of it on a cd. I’ll bet he says that to all the fans!
We got the covers encore, but not So What. Interestingly, Al introduced the covers as “stuff we learned in high school” which might explain where there’s no new wave songs on the album. The cover songs are as much of a mess live as they are on cd.
Not a bad show overall. It makes me a little sad to know how good it would have been if they’d played the “career spanning” set we were all expecting, though.
