I like the new JA.
Street Sweeper ok.
yeah way cool. To hear those old songs as a studio version is also cool. So glad Eric is back. Looking forward to seeing them in June.
I think it’s amusing that the NIN & JA songs are all studio versions of live songs.
i never though reznor would release those songs… well by himself at least, he stated that they may appear on greatest hits collection or something since interscope (or was it universal) could still put that out after he was done fullfilling the contract.
Chip Away remake is fucking awesome. I want a new Janes bad.

Guess he figured he would beat them to the punch? And yes, both songs are fucking awesome. New material would be great. As long as they keep it up like this and stay away from their Strays mentality, they’ll be all set.
Reznor is good to his fans.

I think if they do infact do a new Jane’s that it would have to be amazing again with Eric back. He co-wrote almost everything up to 1990. With him back, the songwriting as a whole should be 10x better than Strays and perhaps actually a truer Jane’s Addiction. I’m disgusted with that Strays album, yes…
I like the new JA.
Street Sweeper ok.
Just to clarify, those are studio versions of old songs that had only been recorded live.
I think the little EP they put together is great. Trent’s work ethic is inspiring and I love how keeps things fresh like he did here by finally offering studio versions of 2 live songs from both NIN and JA.
To the one who found it “amusing”:
What were they supposed to do? Release all new material on a tour sampler? As if Trent hasn’t released enough new material in the past few years…
This was a great way to keep things fresh and make the tour sampler interesting and worth while to fans. Kudos to Trent again! I’m excited for the tour…
As for Streetsweeper…meh. Sounds like a more stripped down version of Rage Against the Machine to me with quasi-annoying hip hop vocals…Morello’s trademark riffs have become too much of a trademark IMO.
‘Chip Away’ sounds great, prefer it to live version.
Whatever some people feel about Trent and his music, he is genuine and does not lose sight of what matters: his audience.
To the one who found it “amusing”:
I didn’t put it in quotes. I find it legitimately amusing. And sure, I’ll explain why I find it amusing.
People that have followed NIN closely online know that Not So Pretty Now and Non-Entity are songs that have been played live, and were recorded in the studio during the With Teeth sessions. Those people have been clamoring for their release, but assumed they would pop up on some sort of Interscope “greatest hits” release, to entice fans who already have everything else on it.
So instead of recording new material (which would be difficult considering how busy he’s been lately), he leaks those.
And then after everyone knows he’s been in the studio with Jane’s, he releases studio recordings of two songs that were previously live only.
The symmetry of this is amusing to me. I hope that’s okay. If it’s not, I will draft a letter of apology to all involved parties.
But you know, thanks for clarifying for everyone. You truly are a king among men.
a free song is a free song…regardless of when they were recorded
at least morello isn’t doing the whole nightwatchman thing
