Four Tet "There Is Love In You"

This just came out today so I hurried along to the local record store this morning to pick it up on vinyl…luckily too as I got the second last one just as some other guy came in and bought the last copy…they sold like hotcakes.

The album is very good and has lived up to the lead up hype…the vinyl is a treat too…gatefold along with two 180 gram slabs of wax and the free mp3 download code for the album.

The lowdown courtesy of Piccadilly Records…

Limited double gatefold LP is beautifully presented in hardback board mounted sleeve and is limited to 500 copies. 180 gram virgin vinyl that comes with 320kbps MP3s. PLEASE NOTE: Due to HEAVYWEIGHT sleeve and HEAVYWEIGHT vinyl combination this LP will cost the equivalent of nearly 4xLP in postage.

“So, you’ve read the music blogs and have driven your flatmates up the wall with “Love Cry” on repeat for the last two months, now here comes the highly anticipated new album from Kieran Hebden; but does it live up to the enormous amount of hype? Luckily, yes, it does! What we have here is someone laying down a palette of sounds and a template of how music will evolve in the 21st century. Rather than simply a set of songs, Hebden showcases new technology and instrumentation in a way that makes you feel like everything before it was simply inferior. Who needs guitars when you have 24-bit polyphonic texture generators? Why not make the vocal part synthesize with the keyboards and create a rhythmic pulse? Hebden is always one step ahead of the game. Four Tet’s soundscapes scream of future industry, glistening hi-technology, new ideas and optimism; offering reasurance in a world that could sometimes be feared or mistrusted with the rate of its technological advances. Here, the new is welcomed with a smile and hug, ‘it’s going to be fine…’, you can almost here Hebden whisper in your ear through a barrage of digital frequencies. And I believe him. From slow ballads, future pop anthems to the more club friendly, forward thinking dance music he is famed for, “There Is Love In You” sets out a whole new vision of making music which in time will be referenced as a classic.”

I was wondering if you were going to post about this one. I hope to pick it up soon!

madlib/four tet colab…try to find that one…i got one!

It’s friggin INCREDIBLE!!!

My fav record of the year so far…will probably be my fav record of the year…the thing is absolutely sublime.

It takes a few listens for it to sink in…but when it does…wow…a truly beautiful and amazing record.

Four Tet/Madlib sounds like a great collab…the Four Tet/Burial 12" was incredible.

Another album called “A” by a band called Sunburned has just dropped and sounds interesting…it too is produced by Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). I haven’t heard it but am keen to pick it up…here is the lowdown on it from Piccadilly Records…

““A” is Sunburned’s second album with producer Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet. Directed by Kieran like actors in a film, Sunburned is taken off the bandana smokestage of their previous collaboration – “Fire Escape” – and put onto a sweat-soaked 4am lysergic dance floor. Kieran uses the band like his live instrument laptop and sampler. The results are truly stunning which makes this record into one of the best moments of each artists respective musical careers. With artwork by California visionary and band favorite Raymond Pettibon – “A” – has looks that kill along with the sounds that thrill.”

You can listen to snippets of “A” on the bottom left-hand corner of this link…

Four Tet “There Is Love In You” update…I’m friggin BANANAS over this album.

I haven’t fallen in love with a new album this much for a looooooooooooooooooong time.

I’ve been threashing it nearly every day under the phones to and from work…then getting home and spinning the vinyl of it!

I’ll then not listen to it for a day or two for fear of thrashing it too much…but then succumb and just have to play it again!

This album really is an incredibly beautiful piece of work.

This is the best album I’ve heard in a long time…it is an album that NEEDS to be listened to from start to finish. It is an album that NEEDS to be heard quite a few times for it’s complex beauty to really sink in and capture your heart. It is an album that NEEDS to be bought…having said that…it is NOT a “heavy” album so don’t be expecting a noise album or an apocalyptic Dub Techno Animal monster type record…it is a magic fusion of melody, electronics, deep bass, live drums here and there and angelic cut up vocals.

Have you picked this up yet greeny??? I know it might sound like I’m hyping it up waaaaay too much but seriously…give it a few spins under the headphones from start to finish and you’ll understand the magic.

I friggin LOVE this record and honestly can’t say enough about it…even if 2010 doesn’t cough up any more gems I’ll be happy.

I’m downloading it right now!

Good one!

First listen went down really well. It is rather perfect for the mood I’ve been in as I’ve been back in a minimalist mode listening to Terry Riley and Philip Glass a lot. On first listen I hear a lot of positive comparisons between the two styles of music.

On about the second or third listen it will steal your heart…well it did for me anyway.

I was naughty yesterday and listened to it again on my way to and from work.

I’m heading to my local record store this arvo to try and grab another copy on vinyl for my brother…apparently the press release said there were only 500 pressed…but I got word yesterday that that was nonsense. They’ve already sold out everywhere and people are already asking big prices on discogs for it…but I’ve been informed more are on the way to stores in the next day or two.

I’m on my third listen now and digging it more and more. It reminds me of so many things but never actually falls into being an imitation of any of them. Is his other work this good?

His 12" collab with Burial was brilliant too.

Personally I think this is his best work yet…his other stuff is top notch too though.

Four Tet is playing here in a few March.

I’m actually going to the nightclub Cabaret Voltaire here in Edinburgh this Saturday as Linkwood is playing…GOOD TIMES!!!

Anyone heard the new remix album? It’s really good especially the Jon Hopkins remix of “Angel Echoes”. That was one of my favorite tracks on the album and I’ve been bummed that it’s a little too glitchy to use in my yoga classes, this remix works perfectly for yoga - creates a real deep mood!

“There Is Love In You” is definitely one of my favorite albums so far of 2010. I still listen to it a lot whereas some other albums from this year have fallen to the side.

Yeah that album is pure magic.

I haven’t heard the remix of it though?

Have you heard Scuba’s “Triangulation” which came out a few months back? That thing is amazing and definately my fave of 2010 so far. If you haven’t got it I’d grab it asap greeny…it’d go well in the yoga too.

Get the remix album Akbar, it’s got some great stuff on it! I’m downloading Scuba now, I’ll let you know what I think - thanks for the heads up!

Good one! I hope you’ve got some powerful subs for that bad-boy.

I will hunt the remix album down…surprised I haven’t heard about it?

There was a Black Sabbath remix album that came out a few months back that featured Four Tet…can’t remember what song he did though? After listening to the tracks on it though I passed on it. The Four Tet remix was pretty interesting though.
