Former LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland has posted a video message containing more information about the upcoming “covers” album that is being recorded by his BLACK LIGHT BURNS project. According to Wes, the following songs are being tracked for the effort:
PJ HARVEY - “Rid of Me” JESUS LIZARD - “The Art of Self Defense” INXS - “Devil Inside” LOVE AND ROCKETS - “So Alive” SWANS - “I am the Sun” FIONA APPLE - “On the Bound” LARD - “Forkboy” BIGDUMBFACE - “Bleed Red Head on Fire”
I think borland is pretty talented, and has a pretty decent voice. His new band seems a little bland, has moments, but is enjoyable though. I’ll be checking this out…

I’ve yet to ever hear Lard, btw…
Lard is amazing. Keep an eye on the AT site, they put shit on sale every now and then. As for Black Light Burns, they’re boring.
Well at least its not Fred Durst doing the cover. What would that be like? Forkboy did it all for the nookie. Forkboy picked by the FBI to break your fucking face. Oh dear.
Say - speaking of ol Freddy boy - didn’t Jourgster do some remixes fer that bastard some years ago? Whatever became of ( not like I care ) those?
Ugh.
More detritus for Ministry’s good name I fear.
He got $10,000, got sloppy drunk and claimed he played the “worst slide guitar he ever played in his life” for one of their albums. The song got shelved, among many others, right before Limp Bizkit started to kindly leave the business.
limp covered theives live a shitload of times. there are a few boots. they only played the intro though for about a min… not the whole song.
al got drunk, and got in to a HUGE fistfight with fred durst. al won, and fred was going to press charges, but al offered to give him some help and work on his next album (as to avoid any courts), but this was the Results May Vary album, for which about 50 some odd songs were written, and all the shit al ‘worked’ on got thrown out or forgotten.
Seems like a rumor to me… I think the more likely scenario is that Durst thought bringing Al in would somehow shed some new light on his shitty music.
Yes Limp Bizkit regularly covered at least the intro to “Thieves” without giving Ministry credit. I saw them at Metallica’s ‘Summer Sanitarium’ tour and they played the intro riff to amp up the crowd. I was so pissed off. We just kept booing them. However, I believe I have heard a full live version of “Thieves” being covered by Limp Dick (vocals and all).
As for the thread topic: not interested at all. But at least I will have the tact to leave it at that, rather than beating everyone over the head incessantly with pretentious opinions about music and faux elitism like Jizzwad does. He is like a prophet. He knows how everything is going to sound before it’s even released.
oh god, can that LB clip actually be considered a cover? they play the verse riff horribly for a bit, then he “freestyles” some lyrics, then when it chorus time, they just have a 2 minute breakdown where fred goes all phil anselmo ( he does this throughout the whole song, actually) macho gay and is all “lemme see ya blah blah blah” or “i wanna see you fuckers blah blah” but instead of barking it like phil would he sounds like a ten year old screaming at his mommy about his choco milk. ucky.
on a side note, i always love to hear people covers songs i like, even though most of the time it’s weak. for some reasons it’s interesting to me to hear how people interpret things, and how they would personal re-feed them into the data stream. i do this in my own head sometimes when i’m listening to this or that.
Be warned… this video will kill some of your brain cells…
Wow, i’ve seen this and actually have this on VHS. I was actualy a bizkit fan then…cringe…but somehow I overlooked that still to this very day…damn. Time to hook up the VCR.
yeah… see, im 18 now, so i grew up in the LB days… so needless to say i was a HUGE fan. haha.
yeah they never did a FULL real cover.
and i am fairly sure al did beat fred to shit. it was at some Korn thing… i have heard it from a few people, and read it a few places… again, i may be missssssinformed, but still… its a good visual…
I cant imagine Al having the physical ability to beat the shit out of Fred Durst. Not that Fred Durst is a tough guy but this supposed run in was probably when Al was a stick: either still on drugs or just coming off them. The image portayed of tough guy Al is always is a bit pathetic I think; he’s not very big and doesnt strike me as a bruiser, even when he turned to lard circa Fournicatour. Does anyone have any real evidence of Al laying the smack down or is at all myth?
