“The Perfect Pair” trilogy is pretty fucking dope… the rest of it is “ahight”… still 10x more interesting than the shit Al has given us for the past few years!!!

Much more experimental-ish. I wouldn’t say It was 10x more interesting though…maybe 5 and half x.
Let’s make it 7.5x and call it even.

Also, I previously had no idea that “Kaif” was older than the rest of the album. That’s one of my favorites off the disc. Venomous, depressing, and straight up uncomfortable. Makes me envision a heroin junkie beating his kids.
MAN, I seriously wanna hear what the album sounded like before it was scrapped and revamped. Hopefully, we’ll get some “TwitchED”-like bootleg out there soon.
“Dark Side of the SpoonED,” maybe?
I’ve always been intrigued by the abandoned Dark Side material. Did some of it morph into later songs or was it completely scratched? If this question can be answered with the provision of unheard material circa '98-'99 it would be joyous.
“I’ve always been intrigued by the abandoned Dark Side material”
Me too.
Didn’t a couple of those abandoned songs end up on Animositisosominaramalamadingdong?
Got my copy today. Spining it as I write. So far Lovers Leap is my fave. I do however keep hearing NIN meets Smashing Pumpkins on some tracks. It does have that great Paul Barker hollow bass sound I loved in some of the better Ministry tracks. Ill spin it a few times and see how it gets me. Any other new music you guys can turn me on to ?
Yeah its good . It gets better after a couple spins and 2 or 3 beers. Good job Paul.
OK it might be great, but I am on beer 4.

“Lover’s Leap” is awesome. If I wind up unlucky enough to get hitched, I’m having that played at my wedding.

You wont be the only one.

The new Animal Collective album “Merriweather Post Pavillion” and Meursaults new one “Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Tongues”. Both aren’t “heavy music” albums although they are very experimental and superb.

I think “Shove” was part of the ‘Dark Side of the Spoon’ writing sessions, but I could be wrong…
‘Animositisomina’ is an awesome album and my first introduction to Ministry.
I will ask Max Brody about that on MySpace right now and let you know.
It should also be noted that some of the tracks on ‘Flowering Blight’ are tracks developed by Paul and Max that were rejected by Al for ‘Animositisomina’ and ended up on both that CD and the first Pink Anvil, ‘Halloween Party’.
Max told me there were some carry-overs from Dark Side, but were minimal. “Shove” is definitely one. “Lockbox” and two other songs were created around 2001. A lot of that was crafted in 2003, mostly to just keep the band together. If it wasn’t for A.I., Ministry would be over.
That is an interesting thought. Although I like ‘Animositisomina’ very much, if A.I. did effectively keep Ministry going as JLW states then maybe it was a turn for the worse. Would the sacrifice of ‘Animositisomina’ make up for the prevention of the last 3 dubya mistakes? I do love ‘Lockbox’ and ‘Impossible’ though. But still.
Animositisomina… fourth best Ministry album, right behind Filth Pig, Twitch, and DSOTS.
… GOD, I love “Lover’s Leap.”

I think it would be worth it.
“Animositisososimositisisilalala” is a fantastic album.
After all, I don’t have to listen to the bush crap, but I would not want to not be able to listen to animanssistaola.
animos is really good. kinda logical conclusion of the pig and spoon sound-wise. there’s something similar about 'em, like a claustrophobic atmosphere.
the only downside is that it’s really really trebly. ouch.

Damn! beat me to the punch! I’m sure I’d like Animos… much better had it been mixed along the lines of FP and DSOTS. Only real songs i dig on it are Shove (Very spoonish despite the treble) title track, and broken. Back when I was a weed head I used to love to sit in front of the speakers and listen to the crazy noise at the start of impossible. Now it’s kinda silly.

I tend to forget Animositisomina even exists. It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just sort of… there…

No, I doubt that. I think Al’s last 3 albums and the continued use of the ‘Ministry’ moniker has been more about money than anything else. Al wanting to maintain the lifestyle he’s had as the leader of a “mid level band” as he has defined Ministry commercially.
I’m not doubting his continued passion for the music. But given his professed hatred of touring and the fact he did 3 more tours anyway after Paul left the group, it seems he needed money.
Besides, ‘Animositisomina’ was a nice little bonus in the “wierd trilogy” that followed the commercial success of ‘Psalm 69’. It really cements Ministry as having a sonic diversity and kind of cements that more progressive, experimental era they embarked on.
And you can always just pretend the Bush Trilogy doesn’t exist. No one is forcing you to listen to it and I doubt it will ruin Ministry’s status in rock history in the future.
Like it or not, they will always be remembered for the LORAH, Mind, Psalm trilogy and their influence as pioneers of Industrial Metal. Albums like ‘Animositisomina’ are only for those who take the time to delve deeper.
EDIT: The extra treble on ‘Animositisomina’ is quite painful though. I agree with those who said it should have been mixed softer. The beginning of “Piss” in particular always makes me wince because the song starts at full force instead of building to its peak volume like most.
