Fix The Movie Thread

I did find it amusing that in the extras interview he says "Yeah, I know Paul OK, and I guess I’ve met Al a couple of times.

this threw me too, man. i saw this clip in the extras and i’m left with the thought - then why’d you put him in the film?

anyway, since i haven’t posted about seeing it… i thought it was ok. i got the feeling it was filmed mostly on about 3-4 nights backstage. i too was waiting the some hardcore needle in the vein thing - but it didn’t happen. i liked it. it was entertaining. didn’t kick my ass though. i liked the scene when al and paul were dancing on the bus. those guys have know each other a long time - and for that brief moment it was cool to see them just being friendly. the wild dude slamming the vodka then chasing it with the coke (forgot his name) was a fucked up dude. at some point in his interview i couldn’t tell if he was weeping, holding back from vomiting, or what.

lastly, i thought the al paranoia stuff was pretty heavy. and that one moment when al was talking some shit about getting shot, and paul’s leaning against the wall behind all looking at the camera with wide-eyes saying “you seeing this shit i have to deal with?”

I think the most misplaced interview was the Korn guy. They never toured with Ministry, did they? At least Tool was a good band.

There’s a story about Tool spiking Ministry’s drinks with acid (round '93 I think). Though I think it’s an Al story so I’d take it with a grain of salt.

Also Slack, that guy you mention who was drinking and crying (sort of) is Casey Chaos from Amen. That was certainly the funniest part of the movie. I don’t like laughing at people but jesus did I do it when he came on screen

yeah, i loved the dancing/kissing scene. it was definitely cute! haha. good to see them being so close. i wonder how they feel when they watch that clip. it would probably be enough to make me pick up the phone. but alas, that probably won’t happen.

at first i didn’t think jonathan davis (guy from korn) would be a good fit, but i enjoyed his commentary. i was a korn fan as a kid, and it’s cool to hear him talk about how he was into the waxtrax scene. i guess they picked him because he had some drug problems of his own? i also liked the bit where he talked about the limp-bizkit cover of “thieves” (horrible cover btw, you could find it on youtube).

I showed this dvd to Evil Dildo the other night - I do believe it gave him quite the fanboy erection…but I promised I wouldn’t tell anyone that!!

Oh wait…

Casey Chaos was the bestworst part of the movie.
Smurf and I saw a screening of this film last summer and everytime Casey came on screen we just laughed hysterically (as did the rest of the theatre when they felt comfortable enough to follow suit).

I’ll comment when I finish and that will be my exit.

Gary NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Yeah that was pretty funny. I wasn’t sure if the rest of the audience was slow or just didn’t know how to react but it made th scenes funnier.

I’m about 2/3 through the movie. I’ll comment when I finish and that will be my exit.

Exit from the board? You’re quitting? Why you leaving us?

At the risk of sounding pushy this board is more than just ministry now. Why would you just up and leave?

I wish you’d stick around I enjoy your comments.

well, at the very least take care. nice to have known you.

troll?

troll?

No, unless he was waiting in disguise for 5 years. Stranger things have happened… dead guy started out cool years ago… took like a two year break from the board and then came back as a bloody tampon.

When I saw “Sphinctour” for the first time and saw Al with those hideous dreadwigs I felt so lied to that I vowed to never listen to Ministry again. Fortunately Erie Load has rekindled the fire that burns in my nether regions for RamJam and Mr. Al Jourgenstern.

If you find out what happened to Chemical Meat and Jizzwad while you’re out there, come back and let us know.

So, I watched it. It was interesting to compare my distorted reality of the band with what was actually taking place. Or at least with what they were able to show. It was only relatively recently that I ran into Piss Army and this website that I actually spent time learning about the band. Up until then I only paid attention to the music and couldn’t care less about the politics or personal lives. I’d say that the learning experience has sullied my view of Ministry immensely and that is a shame. It is often better to live in ignorance I suppose. The content of the movie wasn’t surprising or anything but it did give me a sense of closure for some reason. Enough to say that I’m done with wanting to learn anything else about Ministry.

So, I think I am done here.

I’ve really enjoyed talking to the lot of you on here. And, it was really cool meeting several of you at Retrospectacle. That part I certainly do not regret experiencing.

Good bye.

Guess I popped back on at the weirdest time. Take care, Gary. You’re a cool cat.

I think it was polite awkwardness.
I mean everyone there was pretty much either an invited guest of Doug or Paul, and none of us knew what either of their relationships with Casey or the others is/was.

You don’t just get invited to a the director’s special screening and then start off with wisecracks and raspberries, but I just couldn’t take it any longer. If I didn’t just laugh out loud I’d have ended up crapping myself from holding it in.

Even with us laughing I think the rest of the audience felt themselves in an awkward position. I could hear some muffled snickers, so I knew everyone thought the dude was hilarious, but I don’t think anyone wanted to be a jerk. I kind of just compartmentalized it all. I like Doug a lot and gave him big props and respect for his film, but he understands that there is great humor in his work too (both intentional and unintentional). So I just justified it as laughing at the douchiness that is Casey Chaos was just part of experiencing the “art” of “Fix”.

It was an interesting crowd, actually. Really low key and subdued. Certainly not anything of a stereotypical Ministry scene or any sort of rock and roll party for that matter. I think it was a lot of Doug’s friends and family and actual film and art insiders and they tend to be a little more civilized.

Whatever. I don’t feel the need to actually buy the DVD, but I really enjoyed the film for what I took it to be (more of a snapshot of the band at a particularly pivotal and interesting time in their career).

So, I think I am done here.

Good bye.

I’ll miss your jokes. you have the best jokes in this forum. And every time I watch Chuck, I think of you. Fica bem.

Yow from the Jesus Lizard… what a crazy bastard. A laugh from a distance but he’d be the kind of person I’d fucking hate if I had to deal with.

i forgot to talk about this. yow. is. a. fucking. wild man. insane. a total nut.

Yow really is a madman, see clips on Youtube for proof. Especially this one:

Dave takes a bottle to the head while playing, crumbles, gains composure and berates the guy for not hitting him hard enough. Then he keeps playing. HARDCORE!
