first nyc show (+ review)

i give the show an A. not an A+, or A-, but a solid A.

i mean the first hour + was the bush stuff, but the last sucker songs sounded SO tight with a real drummer, and sin fucking slayed the solos, tommy played rythem, and tony knew the basslines fucking well. john triggered everything right on time, and Al looked fuycking happy as all hell. the stuff off rio grande blood was clear well played, and again al looked like a kid on christmas day. the band seemed to REALLY love and enjoy it on stage… this is a new thing for a ministry lineup, EVERYONE IS HAPPY.
but the real stars of the bush set were the houses songs. (and senor peligro, that was fucking WILD) the houses songs were so tight, and played so well it was amazing. waiting became a sprawling anthem, and no w was godly.

the classics set kicked off with so what, and i almost came. they played like a 10+ min version. the drumming was awesome, though john’s sampling was a little murky and off. but al was fucking brutal at the mic. sin playes nice rythem, and tommy dominated the song with endergy and fury. tony again played the bass tight in time and damn well.
nwo was amazing, just one fix blew me the fuck away… i was astonished with Just One Fix. burt and al shared the vocals and tommy/sin/al all had a perfect groove on guitar, led by tony’s pin point bass.
thieves was GREAT. but was good, but i would have rathered more al. and it was cool to see tommy play the intro riff.

the covers set was cool as well, just got paid was a rumbly kick int he teeth. and again, al looked so happy, he had this huge grin on and he kept smiling everytime he wasnt singing a long, or speaking out the samples.
and then, the final song of the night, under my thumb. this song came out perfect. burt didnt go as low as he did on record, but he switched it up and did a great job. al provided some nice sharp backing vocals. timmy dominated the song again, and the song ended with burton screaming “fucking bitch”, and addition that i sorta wish was ont he record version. it just capped off the hatred in that song.

ministry’s set was awesome, i dont care what anyone says, it was great. mesh was boreing and goofy, so i just ripped around int he pit during their set for fun. and hemlock is not only a cool band, but the singer, his wife, the backingvocalist/guitarist, and the drummer are soem of the nicest guys ont he planet.

i talked with tommy before the show (fuckign sweet guy!) talked to burt, shook tony’s hand, and chilled withthe guys from hemlock.

it was a great night.

Excellent. Makes me ALMOST regret not going to the Phoenix show.

…Almost.

Meh… At least Al’s having fun.
