Fire Engine video

Hey,

Just noticed this on the official website, can’t view it properly streaming though, any1 have it available to d/l, or know where to get it?

Don’t worry, you’re missing nothing <3

Lol, fair enuff. Still wouldnt mind seeing a copy. I saw the first few seconds, reminded me of parappa the rapper, hahaa. I assume from the lack of replies no-one has this vid then? Has it even been released, just a net thing?

I thought that was a fan made video? It’s on the official site? Huh…oh, well, he’s right, you’re not missing much; it’s got Al singing, which is just wrong! Very Parappa-like, actually…

Ah, I took the plunge and downloaded a stream of this vid, so I have it as a DIY mpeg now… but yeah, nothing special. Lol… oh well, was only like a 10meg download.

ANy word on any official videos for the new RevCo or Ministry?

Also… with this song fire engine, was the original really made in '83? Would be cool to hear, does al just play guitar or something?

I’m not sure the original Fire Engine was ever released.

I have seen cd singles by Iggy Pop called Fire Engine… one description said “with ministry backing”. So I dunno… unless it’s a boot? But still… cds were not made until 85 or something? Not sure.

I found a little info on Fire Engine… it’s on a bunch of rarities compilitions… LP’s? Bootlegs? not sure. but one piece of info was:
1983, Ric Ocasek Demos (recorded at Synchro Sound Studios, Boston)
along with songs “old mule skinner” and “warrior tribe”.
Wonder how iggy pop and al met in 83? Being in Boston I suppose ran into each other and made the song…

Suppose it’s all in the discog, I’m just too lazy to check at the mo… Fire Engine is also on an iggy cd called “nuggets”. Live/Rare etc… was only released last november. Fire Engine is the first track.

There is a Fire Engine 12", by Iggy Pop, available on Ebay. I seem to recall that Iggy was recording his album at SynchroSound, which was Ric Ocasek’s studio, around the time that Al was recording With Sympathy. They probably met up there - I think Al played keys on the track. This is much the same way that he ended up on that Alan Vega album.

I couldnt find the 12", found a CD single of it on there… wouldn’t mind, but it’s pretty expensive. I suppose it’s HTF

“Fire Engine” is indeed on Nuggets. Splurge, it’s worth it for a 2CD of Iggy… anything Iggy is usually awesome, imo.

…except for “Real Wild Child”

Hahah… is anyone else in or been to Australia and seen the music show RAGE? They play “real wild child” in almost every “break” between songs, I have heard that song SOOOO much.

In another unrelated issue, TOOL hosted rage last week, and played JBMH and NWO first up. then a few songs in they played Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?
The reason for ministry (from memory, I was a bit drunk, but did tape it), was because the RAGE vaults had NO skinny puppy. (no wonder I’ve never seen any on there!), and then they did talk about ministry for a bit being influential etc…

Ha, I’ve really been digging the new Tool (I know I bitched about Vicarious, but the album as a whole is pretty great!), and it’s cool to see that they list Ministry/Revolting Cocks as influences. Been to Australia, but I never saw this “Rage” show…I wish we had a music channel in the states that actually played music! At least, what I and many others consider music…alas, they have to make room for “The Real World 28,” or whatever the fuck it is MTV shows these days…
I totally approve of “hosted” shows, and by that I mean a band or individual taking over the channel for a day and showing what THEY like. That’s always very interesting to me.

RAGE is great for that, almost every saturday night of the year for about 3-4 hrs they will have a band on there picking music vids to show followed by all of that bands and their side projects/related videos that rage have in the vaults, pretty cool. THe band themselves, appear one in every 3-4 vids exlaining about the next video coming up, or just plugging the show in their own way, but it’s definately cool to see what they pick.

I meant to stay up and watch Rage when Tool were programming as I wanted to hear what they had to say about Ministry.

But I was busy fucking my new girlfriend so I ended up missing it.

I hear they also played Swans’ ‘Children Of God’ video.

Did you see that?

Oh…and ‘Fire Engine’ sucks mega donkey’s balls btw.

Yeah I did see the swans vid,I’ve seen it heaps, its the only swans video rage has (according to TOOL), and heaps of programmers have lined it up crapping on about how good the swans are. I must say I hadn’t seen it for a while though, and this time I actually liked it. What are the swans like? I hear a lot about them, but have heard nothing except that one song.
