TLDR version: H&M started marketing clothes with logos for fake metal bands. The guy from Finntroll thought that was stupid, so he and his buddies decided to make up versions of those bands and put them on Youtube. The catch is that they’re all parodies of their respective genres, and at least one of them has neo-Nazi undertones. So now H&M appears as if they’re marketing shitty, Nazi metal bands.
My favorite is Grey, the German goth-metal band. It sounds exactly like some of the stuff I used to hear on compilation CDs in the late '90s.
Yeah! I’ve been all over this since my friend turned me on to it on Monday. We could see what went down (it was quite obvious that some metal geniuses had seen the H&M stuff and went all in with some awesome shenanigans), but at the time one of the metal sites (Metalsucks, I think) decided they had “exposed” the big fraud of H&M creating fake bands to promote their fake metal gear.
It’s really an incredible story all around and the fake compilation is hilarious and a wonderful parody of so much.
THE ONE absolutely nailed the Death in June ripping, hahaha!
