An image was uploaded to the Ministry FB page, referring to the 20th anniversary of Filth Pig. Maybe we’ll see a box set or demos/unreleased material?
Filth MiXXX - Filth Pig reissued as a remiXXXed masterpiece by the great Erie Loch. Pre-Orders begin tomorrow. Only $69.23
I’m not expecting much, since as far as I know Al still doesn’t like this album (or the couple after it). Hard to blame him, since it wasn’t the happiest time for him.
Filth Pig was reissued in 2014 as well, so labels might think it is too soon to create another version of it.
I forgot about the vinyl reissue. It was pressed on orange, right?
I guess Gunnar’s right, it’ll be Filth Mixxx.
This is the first Ministry album I remember hearing. Has it been 20 years already?..damn.
This is probably my favorite out of the 90s stuff. I’d love to hear some demos/outtakes from it.
If it’s anything like the original release of Filth Pig, it’ll keep getting new release dates and you’ll go into record stores looking for it only to find that it’s STILL not out yet.

HAHA!!! Those were good times.
I was one of those guys going into the record store every week to get my new updates . . . . I became quite a familiar face to everyone. I didn’t even need to ask what I was there for. They’d see me come through the door and they’d already have the latest date ready for me . . . . “June 5”, “June 12”, “Coming Tuesday”, “Next month . . .”
No lie. I really miss those days.

(shudder)
He’s probably right.

Yeah, me too. I was in college and pestering my guys every week at Magnolia Thunderpussy. Then one day I walked in and there it was. So excited. Then I listened to it. . .
It eventually grew on me though.
HAHA!!! Yeah, a lot of fans were underwhelmed (as were almost all of the critics) when they finally got it. I liked it, but wasn’t blown away immediately. Like many, it took some time to really grow on me.
There will be some 20th anniversary t-shirts as well. I haven’t listened to the album in its entirety in awhile. I really liked the album when it came out, it certainly had it’s own character, some fans didn’t like it. I didn’t have a problem with Ministry changing sound a little, maybe that’s why I liked it. At the time i was like new Ministry, turn it up loud! What’s the story with THE FALL, portions of it were recorded in 89?
“The Fall” was first a song done on an Ogre side project thing called W.E.L.T. The song was called “Noreen”. Being used to “The Fall” first, I can tell you that “Noreen” is crap.
I think someone uploaded it to YouTube at some time, so you can probably find it there.

I always forget about this one until someone brings it up. Here it is:

Their Bridge School Benefit performance is noteworthy, since it contains early stripped down versions of Lay Lady Lay and Paisley, along with a few cover tracks.
There were some outtakes that never saw release. One was Lion’s mouth, which was later rerecorded and released with Timothy Leary vocals. More interestingly, the entire album was originally recorded faster and with more elements. I’ve heard it referred to as “much much better than the released version” but I’ve never been able to find anyone with an actual copy
^^Well, that definitely interests me.
While I did eventually start digging the album, I still insist the production and mixing isn’t very good. It’s somehow muddy and thin at the same time.
I’d love to hear the “original mix” if that’s a thing.
I listened to this album on 2x speed on youtube last night…some of the slower songs sounded awesome fast! some of the songs didn’t (the middle couple of songs) . but if anything, listen to lava on 2x speed.
I unashamedly love Filth Pig in all it’s horribly mixed glory…my favorite Ministry album by a mile…it’s such a glorious fuck up of a record…sloppy, nasty nightmare of an album…today seems like a good day to go put iton and piss off the neighbors even more…good day, lads and lassies…
I hated this for a couple years, then it just clicked one day. Dead Guy is probably one of my favorite Ministry tunes.
I would love to hear another mix, but I kind of like it the way it is.
Who was with them on-stage at the Bridge School Benefit video posted above?
Apparently the only 20th anniversary merch is a limited edition shirt.
I guess expecting unreleased stuff to surface is sortof delusional considering however many people were involved in the writing/recording sessions, and getting them all to agree (and giving them a cut). Someday maybe?

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam.
