Filter, 10 Years, Opiate for the Masses

Last night I went to the diamond ballroom in OKC to see three bands I was looking forward to quite a bit. I’ve heard very little OftM, but I knew of Seven playing with RevCo, and the few songs I had heard were kind of cool. I’ve seen 10 Years once before about 2 years ago and expected very little and they were really good. Never seen Filter, but I used to listen to Title of Record quite a bit in high school, and their new album isn’t that bad.

First off, OftM didn’t even show. 10 Years said something about it being a “dental emergency”, but we couldn’t tell if they were kidding or not.

So 10 Years comes out first. Right off the bat I recognized how different they looked. The first time I saw them, the singer had long long dreads and his face was painted like a china doll. Last night, all five members looked like they were at a Gap fashion shoot. They sucked dick last night, they hit on maybe 3 songs that were enjoyable, and the rest blew. Also the guy doing their sound was awful. It sounded like new Ministry with really high pitch that hurts the ears.

So I’m hoping to god that Filter will kill it. Nope. They were pretty lame too. Their sound guy was better, but it still didn’t sound right. Maybe it was the venue, it was only me second time. On top of that, for some reason during the entire set, there was a mosh pit that looked like a Slayer pit going on and generally ruining the show for anyone that was digging Filter’s half assed performance.

Just thought I’d share my miserable experience with everyone. CULatour, absolutely annihilated this lame ass show,=.

ehh gap fashion i would’ve left then and there. sounds terrible

You’d think a Slayer type pit would make the show more enjoyable.

Yes because how people dress is what is important.

As little as a year ago, I would have agreed, but I’m too old for that shit now (I was last year too, though).[:|]

I saw filter open for STP last month. They were ok. I’m glad they played their only good song… the one from the crow 2 soundtrack “hey old man got something for you”… too much rock posing going on from that richard though. It’s nice to know he sobered up and got his life together… But he still seems to be chasing the mainstream success a little too hard

How was STP? I’m gonna see them at a festival in August.

No, I’m from Tulsa, I just drove down to see Filter. I haven’t heard anything about the assimilate thing you’re talking about. Name’s Jason Smith (original, I know), send me a PM.
