Fall concert calendar

It’s going to be a good autumn for shows.
Here’s my Atlanta list:

Project Pitchfork - 09-10
Sunn O))) - 09-26
Om/Six Organs of Admittance - 10-17
Gaslight Anthem/Murder By Death - 10-24
Dethklok/Mastodon - 11-05
Skinny Puppy - 11-24

That’s two a month, and there’s a few I haven’t made up my mind about yet (ex: Social Distortion), and I’m considering a road trip to see RevCo.

How’s your fall shaping up?

I’ve got Jesu next Saturday.

Here’s how mine’s looking. November’s going to be full of choices, personal days off, and possibly some sick days. Cough, cough.

October 24 - Hank Williams III, Meridian, Houston
November 5 - Galactic & Mike Dillon’s Go-Go Jungle, Warehouse Live, Houston

November 16 - Shrinebuilder, Emo’s outside, Austin
November 21 - Zappa Plays Zappa, House of Blues, Houston

Upcoming:
October 27 - Revolting Cocks, Warehouse Live, Houston(listed as a Halloween Celebration, sweet!)
November 9 - Melt Banana, Walters, Houston
December 1 - Skinny Puppy, Warehouse Live, Houston

Kevin Smith?

Kevin Smith?

Yeah, he’s bringing his “An Evening With” tour to Dallas, which is kind of a Q&A meets Comedian thing. If you get certain balcony tickets you get a meet and greet with him. We’re thinking of making the trek for it. Be fun to see him on stage and get a pic with Kevin Smith. He is a funny dude and is a really great talker.

project pitchfork kicked my ass. saw them twice. one the second night peter spilles asked me what i wanted to hear (personally, since i was in front row) and he really did play it. (Fear!)

i cannot recommend them enough. i would have seen them a few more times if i could have, but cash cash cash, ya know?

no GWAR for you? KMFDM? AIC? Butthole Surfers?

Just got back from a festival, some of the bands I saw: Seastick Steve, Rodrigo y Gabriela, A Flock of Seagulls, Explosions in the Sky, 2 Many DJ’s…

Have Opeth lined up next month and hope to see jesu before the year is out. Make sure to give us a run down of your jesu gig Toot (with pics as one might expect)

I dig his movies (except for the lovey dovey shit he crams into each to make me + Mrs vomit by the end of the movie).

I have the boxset for the first spider man movie, and one disc has Kevin Smith interviewing Stan Lee for ages, I thought it was overall - a really bad interview, he just came across as a fanboy who had won a competition or someone on a public access show - kept interrupting Stan to correct his knowledge of Marvel history - when he had his dick out of his mouth that is.

So yeah… based on that I probably wouldn’t go see him! But that was like what, 7 years ago or something…

Whats coming up for me… only Soundwave next Feb (see other thread for more info, I’m going for FNM, Clutch and EODM), plus I’ll get some sideshow tix, but not sure if I’ll go or not, depends who I get.

I didnt get Monster Magnet tix in the end - but then found out I probably could have scammed my way in for free - pfft - shows tomorrow night too late now. Well probably not, but I’m pretty lazy.

Kevin Smith?

Kevin Smith Kicks ass! excellent writer, excellent Public speaker! I’ve followed that guys career since 1994 when he released his first film, Clerks but after Dogma here came the Psuedo-super fans and just kinda ruined the mystique he had about him. I still catch all of his films in theaters but I don’t bother with the “Evening with” because it’s so infuriating watching dumbass “superfans” asking him questions that they could easily know the answers to had they listened to any of his film commentary! Have a good time though! He does put on a good show.

going to see skinny puppy and kmfdm somewhere along their tour itineraries. thought i’d give it a go with the acl fest in austin, but so many acts have bowed out (who i would care to see–sonic youth) and can’t bring myself to go to see pearl spam.

U2, Adrian Belew, KMFDM, The Pogues, and Skinny Puppy are coming to Phoenix, all between October and December. Going to all of them. My Pogues ticket is gonna cost more than U2, go figure. Haven’t seen Belew or KMFDM since the mid-90’s, Adrian will no doubt break out a decent amount of KC songs, looking forward to that.

I wish I was going to Antwerp this year, fucking Click Click and Laibach on the same stage. I live in the wrong country for concerts.

1002

I’ll be seeing Skinny Pooch in December, never seen them before so I’m kinda excited about it. Dont know know about KMFDM though gotta see the setlist first.

I thought about doing GWAR but I don’t know them too well and their openers are garbage metalcore crap.

See the thing is, with most of the mid-week shows I’d have to catch a bus to houston and stay overnight in a hotel. If it’s a weekend sometimes I can get a friend to take me but then I have to figure a way to get the day off as I’m never given weekends off. I don’t mind the hotel thing, but it adds up, and I have to make sure it’s really worth it for the show I’m going to. I casually like KMFDM but don’t know them well enough, and they’re on a Friday. Butthole Surfers I like but never got into them hardcore, so I probably wouldn’t know most of the material or appreciate it like I should. AIC aren’t coming here I don’t think. I still haven’t made up my stance on them with the new guy. I’m torn.

Last week I saw the Melvins on Friday then Weedeater on Sunday. That was a pretty kickass weekend.

Make sure to give us a run down of your jesu gig Toot (with pics as one might expect)

Yeah I’m hoping to do a Toot Jesu Chronicle with pictures…I just have to convince my girlfriend to give me her camera for the night as she’s heading up the Heelands for a friends 21st birthday party and wants to take the camera. I have told her that LOADS of her friends will have cameras and that Jesu is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important![cool]
