So did Bill really play drums on ‘filthpig’(song) and ‘dead guy’ those to me really don’t have his ‘sound’ as we think of it at the time and why is he not credited with ‘brick windows’ unless the just sampled them direct from ‘Apathy’ (It’s original version) and it’s J.Ward. Also, who wrote the lyrics for ‘useless’ (I brought this up a long time ago and forgot) they really seem to fit what Al had going on in his personal life at the time per the press, so i would’nt think Paul wrote them can anyone confirm any of this?

edit I thought ‘dead guy’ was 5 just noticed it’s not so i mean ‘useless’ not 'dead guy’as it sounds like Rey another question why is mikey given a writing credit for ‘crumbs’ is’nt the song about him?

“Reload” – 2:25 (Jourgensen, Barker)
“Filth Pig” – 6:19 (Jourgensen, Barker)
“Lava” – 6:30 (Jourgensen, Barker)
“Crumbs” – 4:15 (Jourgensen, Barker, Scaccia, Svitek, Washam)
“Useless” – 5:55 (Jourgensen, Barker, Rieflin, Scaccia)
“Dead Guy” – 5:14 (Jourgensen, Barker, Washam)
“Game Show” – 7:45 (Jourgensen, Barker, Scaccia, Svitek, Washam)
“The Fall” – 4:54 (Jourgensen, Balch)
“Lay, Lady, Lay” – 5:44 (Bob Dylan cover)
“Brick Windows” – 5:23 (Jourgensen, Barker)
[edit]

I thought “The Fall” was based on a demo co-written by Nivek Ogre.

Yeah, “Noreen”. There’s no need to check it out, though. “The Fall” is absolute perfection. The “Noreen” demo sucks.

“Crumbs” is about Mikey? Cold as ICE.

Ogre didn’t write the music and none of his howling is on the final version.

Re: Bill Rieflin. ‘5’ would be “Useless”. Interesting to me you should make this topic, I’ve been listening to FP a lot and recently discovered this information too and was wondering the same thing. Consider the looser style on the title track and how that type of rhythm hadn’t really been attempted on a Ministry song before or after AND the introduction of a new drummer. Has more in common with the playing on Rapeman’s album than the powerful albeit limited motorik beats Bill brought to Ministry.

Conversely, Bill is a very versatile musician as anyone who’s familiar with his output knows and probably drummed in the style called for on that song. The album he did with Fripp and Trey Gunn is a good demonstration of his technicality that seldom got showcased with the industrial albums he played on.

Yeah i wantedd to check out his solo ‘birth of a giant’ (Bill) or the one he did with CC around that time but never did what does it sound like?

the one he did with CC around that time but never did what does it sound like?

It’s called Largo. I bought a few years back I’ve listened to it a few times and probably never again.

it sounds like out of tune instruments doing folk music.

but then again connelly’s solo career hasn’t really been my style of music anyway (although swinging junkies was really good…) so take my critique for what it’s worth.

Hey, since we are discussing the '93 era (and i’m noticing his uncredit credit) would you guy’s have any questions for duane? (and remember he also played on ‘what about us’ 2000) I really wan’t to know more about the
'dark spoon’era plus the fall was sampled from yo mtv raps btw but i really can’t hear it in ‘noreen’

edit Okay Duane is down told him i’d get questions to him in about a week so we can ask revco (linger) sphinctour/filthpig and darkspoon/clitour questions i know alot of us have wondered for awhile. Let’s use this thread for questions for him for now on cool?

Dude, Largo’s amazing! Out of tune lounge jazz type stuff. Possibly one of my favorite albums, ever.

I’ll pose the same question I did last time someone suggested interviewing Duane - ask if he ever stole one of Bill’s motherfucking leather jackets.

The Reverend is definitely today’s MVP. That was perfect, Dude!!!

Steal his drums, too.

Really that’s it? Do you want me to confirm if he’s from the projects or if CC in fact does stink and wear pink drawers?

Birth Of A Giant is a great record, definitely in my top 100 - here’s an example:

BTW Stella Katsoudas aka Stella Soleil aka Sister Soleil never ended up on Filth Pig…her credit was accidentally left on the notes

could you ask him about the hidden track? what’s that all about? where is it from? is that al getting the lady to sing?

how many songs did he perform on?

what was the inspiration for that sound? no other album from any artist sounds anything remotely close. all those reed instruments whose idea was that.

Did Paul have the majority of the influence on that album the way we all think he did?

lastly, because I’m a lyrics snob when it comes to this album, could you print out the lyrics and ask if they are correct?

thanks for giving us this opportunity.

Punks.

[cool]

Do rieflin and Barker still get along? I would love to see them workk together again somtime.

Okay Grumpy i’m glad you’ve given me something. I’m a lil surprised that theres not more, being that we rarely have access to someone who was a member from “linger”(93) till A.I. (2000)
If I could make a request to you guy’s it would be Dark Spoon questions as that record and tour have the least amount of info

I’m probably not the best contributor to something like this as I don’t really care about how stuff was made, what gear, who knew who, or whatever.

I do like STORIES, though.

So if he wants to share any anecdotes of fun, tragedy, or general mayhem either in the studio, tour, or elsewhere, I’m all for it.
