I’m digging the sounds, though.
Absolutely brilliant.
The theme to Escape From New York is one of the most bad ass pieces of music ever created. It even sounds rad on a C64!!!
I wanna sample that weird German voice.
That was painfully slow to watch. I seriously don’t know how gamers put up with it back then. I would’ve needed about 20 bongs to get through level one.

I honestly don´t remember anymore, it could take you an hour for the C64 tape machine to load the game only for you to find it corrupt. If it did work however, the game was usually extremely difficult, with poor reaction to the controls. But what helped back then was that you had use A LOT of your own imagination add some color to the game…and with a strong dose of patience!!
The C64 had many games based on movies which was why i stuck with it.
Holy crap, that really does sound like an ordeal. The sort of thing where I’d have to have a guitar or homework or anything nearby to fill the time… hell, sounds like it would’ve been conducive to actually getting something done with one’s life…
and here’s me thinking the loading times for the original playstation were horrid… [laugh]
My favorite all time game system is the VECTREX because it actually looked and sounded like real arcade games. Of course it failed after like 6 months on the market or something.
Classic Atari was cool, as was old school Nintendo. I just could never get into any of the new stuff. Way too many buttons.
I do like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, though.

What year did that come out? I’ve always wanted a coleco vision but my parents were to cheap to hook it up! they were too cheap to hook up the nintendo I had to mow about 40 lawns to get tat thingand then when I got it my dad pulled the “my house my electricity” card and would only let me play it like 20 minutes a day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

It had a really short existence between 1982 and 1984.

It was a fabulous failure of a product, but for some reason I knew two families that had them. I thought they were totally badass!
This video shows a good sample of one of the games.

Reading that vectrex article led to one of the most hilariously titled articles I’d seen on wikipedia in a while… but it was an interesting read.
