Einstürzende Neubauten - 30th Anniversary Tour

From Slicing Up Eyeballs:

The pioneering German avante-garde industrial act [url “http://www.neubauten.org/”]Einstürzende Neubauten will embark on a 30th anniversary tour of Europe and North America this fall, playing full-length concerts in each of the 16 cities it visits while also presenting a second night of films, side projects, workshops and audience Q&As.

The 22-date first leg begins Oct. 14 in Amsterdam and continues through Europe until closing Nov. 19 in Brussels, with two nights scheduled in each city — sometimes at the same venue, other times at different locations. The trek picks up again with the band’s first North American visit in six years, a 10-date run opening Dec. 1 in Los Angeles and wrapping Dec. 15 in New York City (see full dates below).
In each city, according to the [url “http://www.neubauten.org/?q=live”]band’s website, Einstürzende Neubauten will perform a full-length concert on one night, and present a second night divided into a three-part program featuring films and installations; a short Neubauten live set with “material that has never been played live, hasn’t been played live for a long time or never in this form”; and performances by the band’s individual members “recomposed from city to city.”
A press release announcing the North American dates says that in addition to music and film, the “multidisciplinary experiences” also will include Q&A sessions with fans about the band’s history and development, as well as workshops and lectures regarding the group’s “connection with Berlin culture from the 1980s to today.”

Yep. Once again Australia is nowhere to be seen.

No one cares about Australia.

FUCK YES SO PSYCHED FOR THIS!!!

Will be seeing them in NYC at Webster Hall.

Dunno about the artsy fartsy second night thing.

Uggh why do these bands have to be so academic with “workshops” to talk about how culturally significant they are??

Well, I know why. Because academia accounts for some of their funding after a point I’m sure…

Still annoying.

I’m ecstatic that this US tour is finally becoming a reality. There’s been talk of dates for some time now. I think I’ll be hitting up the Dec 1st show at The Music Box. The idea of seeing a 30 Years of EN concert sounds far more fulfilling than seeing a retrospective, even if that idea is theoretically more intimate.

Unfortunately this time they will not be in my country.

And not like VoidHead, I think the second night promise to be interesting and a different way to approach their unique process of making music.
I listened to a audio clip that explains how they made the “Let’s do it dada” music from Alles Wieder Offen and it showed well how they carefully think what they are doing and the meaning of it.

Next week I’ll see Blixa side project ANBB, it should be interesting.
A few months ago I saw a similar project with neubauten’s guitarist (Arbeit) and it was also cool.

No one cares about Australia.

I’m with ya on that one. Now that cunty Redhead Socialist Bitch is in power I could no longer give a fuck what happens in this fucking leftist backwoods country of ours.

Oh well, they’ll be finished in 18 months.

Dunno about the artsy fartsy second night thing.

Uggh why do these bands have to be so academic with “workshops” to talk about how culturally significant they are??

If they can’t justify how important they are both culturally and artistically, then people will see them for what they really are: Eurotrash hipsters hitting blocks of wood and steel pipes and mumbling about Nietzsche and Baudelaire in order to combat heroin withdrawal symptoms.

Oh I’m not disputing their cultural significance I just think it’s silly doing “workshops” to spell it out for us dumbies

They’re not playing anywhere near me. Pretty bummed out by that.

I may go to one of the SF shows. I’ve never listened to Neubauten so I figure I’ll just be suprised if I decide to go

go! that would be awesome, walking in having absolutely no idea what to expect. you really should give it a shot if you are an open-minded person. if I were you I would purposely avoid listening to them prior to the gig.

I think I’ll trust ur opinion voidhead. You have some pretty good tastes, plus I remember you from the hierophant. You were the first person I saw online that gave DSOTS the props it deserves. I think I’ll check it out once I get some cash. Btw I was suckofFasAILor on the phant

Now where to see em. I’ll probably catch the fillmore show. Slim’s can be rather cramped

Ya see now, this is just wrong…
