Einsturzende Neubaten Recommendations

I’ve been on an iTunes shopping spree today. Downloaded FLA, 1349, Prince, Skinny Puppy and Burzum. But now I’m onto Neubaten. I was gonna catch them on their 30th Anniversary tour but it got cancelled, plus tix were pretty pricey. I’m previewing Kollaps right now and I’m not really into just previewing everything. So where’s a good place to start?

Tabula Rasa is good. So is Halber Mensch. Any of the Strategies comps are a good place to start, too.

Halber Mensch or Haus Der Luge are probably good starting points for anyone. Halber Mensch was the first album that was more “structural”, if that’s good enough term for it. They contain more actual “music”, and it progressed from that. But i’d say Halber Mensch, and if you want more noise, listen to the before albums. If you want more song structure, go with the latter albums.

they are playing USA again? shocked…they always say never ever, but then…

I really like Haus der Luege a lot. It’s a nice blend of clanky and coherent. The lyrics are nuts, and directly translated to English read like the scariest propaganda ever committed to giant posters.

Haus der Luge is the one I always liked too. And not just because of the massive splooging horse dong on the cover. The songs are really cool.

I don’t really know too much about 'em or heard much. I’ve got a little collection of FM Einheit stuff, his ensemble was one of the most fun parts of the Pigface Lowest of the Low Tour. I think the only real Neubauten I’ve got is the Interim EP, which has a really cool song on it called Ring My Bell…

Also, they had a recent concert film on netflix for a while, i only got to watch the first third or so, but it was pretty dope.

Strategies Against Architecture 1,2,3 and 4, and the live albums, that’s pretty much my collection
