Dropping like flies

First Bernie Mac dies, and now Isaac Hayes is dead too.

Chef’s dead?

Total mindblow.

I blame the Co$.

RIP.

I didnt know Bernie Mac died. He seemed like a cool guy he wasnt even old early 40s i would say.

I just saw the news that Hayes had died right before I popped over here. Shush your mouth, tell me it ain’t true!

1002

I once listened to the entire Groove-a-thon album played in reverse for no reason whatsoever.

I once listened to the entire Groove-a-thon album played in reverse for no reason whatsoever.

And now look what’s happened!

“hot buttered soul”. my man, mr. hayes.
he was in his early sixties. i saw reports today that he was 62, was 65, etc… nobody else came up with anything approaching" shaft". the background singers, the girls you want whispering in your ear,“John Shaft”.
RIP, mr. hayes.

it’s so weird how just a few days ago comedy central had on the episode where chef died on south park.

i thought it was distasteful of one of those south park dudes to say today that issac hayes left the show because he was uncomfortable with them making fun of scientology(church of which mr shaft was a member)and the guy’s response to hayes leaving was, well hayes had no problem when we made fun of christians. hayes got his check and cashed it. etc.
ok, maybe he did make tons of money with them, but this icon just died. give his soul (no pun intended whatsoever) time.
and then you can post your review.

This is an interesting story. Nothing is always as we think it is… Apparently, Mr. Hayes was in trouble with the scientology guys… but it’s foxnews, so it might not be totally accurate.

ed that’s a REALLY old quote

Has everyone here heard the Cabaret Voltaire cover of “Shaft”? Classics stuff. Very minimalist and oddly creepy. It comes off much better than you might expect.

yeahs that’s from early 2006 when hayes left the show. the south park guys did put up an in memoriam thing on the south park site as well.

while, that is indeed an old quote, it’s also very true. He was game for laughing at others but not himself, in the religious sense.

That said, RIP I enjoyed some of his works.

Fox News may not be the most reliable source of info in the world (far from it, really), but I wouldn’t put it past the Co$ to whack Isaac for not payin’ Xenu his club dues.

i’m old. i still read the paper because i like the news in my hands at 4:30 am, instead of putting my glasses on to read a screen at that hour. paper mentioned the south park quote.
i don’t watch the show.tried one time and it was not funny.
the quote was also mentioned on npr.
