Diggerland

Have any of you been to digger land?

I probably would have loved that place as a kid [:)]

As a kid? Screw that! I wanna go NOW!!!

DJ, there’s a place in Vegas called “Heavy Equipment Playground”, I think, and you can operate all the full-size real stuff. Excavators, bulldozers, etc. I’ve not done it YET, but totally want to. If you’re ever out this way give me a shout and we’ll get shitty on some shovels!

No, but I’ve been to Hoogie Boogie Land…

That would be awesome. When I was in 9th grade we had to take a test at school to determine what we might be good at as a career. One of the questions was “What do you want to do?” and I put “Bulldozer driver”. Unfortunately, the test results came back and it said I was too smart for that. But still, I want to drive a bulldozer!

Yeah, those tests are funny. I never got any value from them either.

They’re made by Nazi geneticists or something. They shouldn’t even bother asking the useless questions of “What do you LIKE doing?” or “What is your IDEAL job?” or “What job would you like to do for the rest of your life?”
since they completely ignore them while calculating what THEY think you should be.

A lot of the truck drivers, machine operators, construction workers, etc. are some of the smartest guys I meet. I don’t know if they were just always brilliant and lucked out by messing up all the dumb things that would have forced them into another path, or they were just strong enough to say they didn’t care if society thought they should be lawyers and accountants.

The other thing they don’t tell you in school is that equipment operators, construction guys, and many of the other gigs that they steer you away from for being “too smart” . . . . . there’s good money to be made.

Anyway . . . back to the stuff. Yeah, I’d LOVE to do the heavy equipment some day.

I’m a backhoe operator and it’s a pretty fun job. I don’t make much money (you’ll have to guess how smart I am), but I work for my dad and can take my 5 year old boy down to the shop to do this stuff every weekend if we want.

Looks like fun.
