Did you hear Laurel?

I did

I had to slide that bitch 2 notches from the yanni setting in order to hear yanni though.
and at that point it actually sounds like “Yally.” Not until I get all the way over to the right do I actually hear the “N” sound.

I only listened to it on YouTube but it was always LAUREL for me too.

Definitely on Team Laurel here.

At work a few days ago on the television, I heard Laurel. Later that day on my phone I heard Yanny. Yesterday morning local tv news had it on again and I heard both during the audio clip they played, I think they’re playing me haha.

that ny times link I posted gives an explanation as to why people hear what they do could be because of how their brain interprets pitch; pretty cool. and still another article I read said the quality of your speakers has something to do with it. Cell phones, you are more likely to hear yanni cause the speakers are cheaper and you get more high pitch frequencies from them.
Not to make this political… but I wonder if the way your brain interprets frequencies from speech might help predict what side of the political isle you may be on… I know it’s been proven that people that are right [strike]are giant pussies[/strike] generally have larger amygdala than people on the left. which makes them more scared of everything compared to the left. which could be why the right is always in a rush to war, to “prove” they’re not scared. explains why obamacare was met with such resistance “death panels!” terrifying! (as if insurance companies aren’t already death panels!!) anytime anything new is introduced they freak the fuck out!

There are certain frequencies or pitches (higher register) that we generally do not hear as we get older and pass a certain age. Some of you may remember there was a company that developed a ringtone that was easily heard by teenagers but not by people over 30 or whatever the normal age was.

I saw that the man in the audio clip is saying “LAUREL”, by the way. I don’t know if the “Yanny” is because of other noise coming in that is only heard by certain portions of the population or if it’s just the way the same sounds are processed/interpreted.

Could be bad speakers, could be people more sensitive to the higher pitch frequencies, or maybe higher pitched noise pollution is altering what some people hear. either way it’s all pretty interesting.
(I remember that ring tone, btw)

Yeah, there are a lot of factors to come in to play. It’s just a really odd one because I would have never assumed YANNY and LAUREL sound even sort of similar.

I agree, they aren’t even close.

Blue and black, or white and gold

The blue/black white/gold whatever shit was lame, as far as I was concerned. It was bad lighting, colors marginally between each other, and so forth . . . . things can always look like a different color if in a shadow or direct light, etc. I really just shook my head the whole time during that one.

But this one really did peak my interest and it was fun to hear the various “explanations” and scientific reasons behind it all.

I heard Yanny but I only listened to it once on youtube. The explanation I heard was that they manipulate the audio of someone saying Laurel so that some people hear Yanny.

Its Witchcraft if you ask me
