Check this out.

If it didn’t it fucking should have and if I had money to spend on pointless shit I’d buy this just so that in my own little world it would be a platinum selling juggernaut.

A fake. Dark Side commercially tanked, peaking at #92 on Billboard (first week sales I’d estimate around 30K when you adjust CD sales to 1999 vs present) and took a freefall in the weeks after. I’m presuming the only dividends Al sees from DSOTS are royalties from sales and plays of “Bad Blood” on the Matrix soundtrack.

There’s a UK flag on the platinum disc, is Billboard only tracking US sales?

ANIMALS!!!

Weird. Maybe it did in the UK, but definitely not in the us. Uk platinum must have some low standards then.

I have a gold record for Twitch and I’m pretty sure it never went gold.

Yeah, Billboard only does US sales, the UK has the Official Charts Company. It takes 300, 000 sales in the UK to get a platinum album, sadly i doubt they sold that many, as great as the album is. I did my part though, i bought it on the day it came out.

^ Seems so crazy to me that the major label kept them on for as long as they did just because of the fact that they had only one platinum album. Add on how difficult they must have been to deal with, not meeting dealines, crazy lead member who was literally fucking nuts, and… heroin… and heroin… and heroin… and heroin…

Did I mention heroin? Is Dave Navarro around? I that useless cunt love to talk about heroin.

Or, maybe they signed a deal for so many albums, and since they did get a platinum album, they allowed them to finish the their contract? I’m really not sure how many albums they owed Sire. But, it’s a possibility that the band fulfilled their end with so many albums, and by the time they released Spoon, that could’ve been the last with Sire either way.

And after so many delays and going over budget, i’m sure Sire were counting the days to get rid of them.

Or look at it like this, up until Filth Pig, Ministry had increasing sales every album. Psalm 69 was big and the band was bankable despite the insanity. But Filth Pig just imploded sales wise, and the band never recovered commercially. Ironically, of all their stuff, Filth Pig has held up the best over time.
