Oh yeah he’s that too…that goes without saying?

Did I say “bufty?” I mistyped I meant Numpty! Numpty! I heard Maggi was a Numpty that’s just what I heard!

like I said, I’m not big into the genre…I see this as another passing trend in electronic music. ah yes, I remember the days when drum and bass and jungle were supposed to be the best thing ever to happen.

Obviously you aren’t too familiar with the mighty Dubstep.

The Dubstep genre has been around since about 2001 and is blowing up more and MORE!!!

I can see why you’re not too big on it though seeing as you haven’t heard any and feel left out.

Drum’n’Bass is still going strong, although as far as i’m concerned it’s been destroyed (the live show anyway) due to the crappy MC’s screaming their tits off from start to finish Black Metal style!! For this reason i don’t go to live DnB shows anymore. The DnB DJ’s suck for letting these crappy MC’s fuck the live experience up!!!

Unlike DnB, Dubstep has waaaaaaaaay more varients so will evolve until the end of time. It’s the beastliest music out there and Industrial wishes in it’s wildest dreams it could have evolved into it! Bwahahahaha!!

Dubstep kicks DnB’s ass due to being waaaaaaaaaaaay slower and nastier sounding for the most part.

Industrial gets it’s ass kicked by ALL electronic genre’s. Even Happy Hardcore Gabba with Chipmunks singing sound more cutting edge than crappy Industrial!

DUBSTEP FOREVER!!![cool]

I’m a fan of Scorn, I’d say that pre-dated the term of Dubstep for years. Also, Rhythm & Sound material from the mid 90’s predates Dubstep, but it’s definitly the precursor to it. Good stuff.

But, like DNB, I can see it being overkilled, like you said.

Speaking of Rhythm And Sound…there’s some Dutch Dubstep DJ at the momment who everyone is raving about who fuses Rhythm And Sound type Techno into his sound??? I was reading an article about him the other day but forgot his name? He records under quite a few names but has recently released an album under the name 2467 or some number like that??? In fact it’s in Skinny magazine so i’ll post it after my next break if i remember?!

Another reason Dubstep kicks DnB’s ass is you can actually listen to at home. I just can’t listen to DnB at home…i mean i used to love going out and dancing like a lunatic to it (before the MC’s screwed it over!) but it’s just not something i get pleasure out of listening to at home?

I’ll take care of that Toot…the producer you speak of is 2562 and the new album is called “Aerial”.

Here is a review of it…

Tectonic is one of the true standout labels on the dubstep scene, with Pinch aka Rob Ellis running the show. His latest recruit is 2562, a cutting edge Dutch producer with a growing reputation for fusing deep non-formula dubstep and atmospheric techno. After several killer 12’s comes Aerial, an album that shows the impressive skills and depth he’s capable of as a producer. Standouts include the mighty Moog Dub, a staggered stepper cut, drawing on both dancehall and techno influences. Then there’s Channel Two, a killer off-beat held together by deep tech strings and heavy hitting bass structure, plus the breaks cut Enforcers, a superb bass roller with heavy dubbed out effects. Also worth a mention is Greyscale: moody, grainy beats reminiscent of the sound Burial has perfected over the last year. On this form 2562 stands out in the same way as Kode9, Pinch or Appleblim do, producing a truly unique sound. A class act.

DUBSTEP RULEZ!!!

Dubstep can be fun although it is distinctly annoying how hip it is at the moment.

It is very hip indeed.

Don’t expect to see it in the charts any time soon though…

I really got into the Distance album My Demons recently.
The cover art drew my attention, I really like photographs of sparse industrial settings like this.

That Distance album is superb stuff. “Traffic” is my fav song from it. Handsdown my fav Dubstep DJ/Producer is Goth Trad! That guy is INSANE!!! His cd’s are impossible to find so you have to be a 12" fiend.

Tommorow I’m catching the original line-up of Killing Joke in Glasgow then the night after I’m off to a Drum’n’Bass Vs Dubstep spectacular…DJ Hype Vs Skream. I’m looking forward to seeing the D’n’B crowd try boogie to Dubstep.

Skull Disco’s “Soundbwoy Punishment” is a stellar Dubstep release too by the way…

4 years later, dubstep is mainstream. And the consensus is, it blows.

Mr Oizo “Flat Beat” sounds like dubstep. from late 90s and used in a Levis (I think) advert. pretty mainstream. More dancey than “dubstep” maybe but maybe not.

I was listening to Roots Manuva when “Witness (1 Hope)” was on TV.
That’s how I got into his music and telly’s a pretty mainstream thing. It’s just the tag that’s new. I’ve not read the whole thread so maybe other people have said what I’ve said.

oops, meant to add link.
Roots Manuva “WItness (1 Hope)” from 2001
Great stuff!

WITNESS was the first song I got into by Roots, not my thing musically but that song…well…rules

It’s all poo.

But the “Three Legged Race” scene in that Roots Manuva video was pure magic.

Flat Eric was some dude

gotta love this thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDUkhJwJrQg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
