There’s something brilliant about it.

Pssh. That’s an edited clip of a Spanish comedy sketch. The real video is much freakier.

Still, [laugh].

brilliantly creepy. watching that clip without any audio just feels flat out wrong.

It’s the lack of audio that’s key. What are they talking about? What’s the phone call about? Scared me good.

The REAL one. FAR more terrifying.

Just LISTEN to them speak.

Also the low quality made it even more creepy. At first I thought it was stop motion until Marge entered the shot. Then you see their faces and their mouths moving and something just doesn’t seem right.

Kind of reminds me of Lou Reed’s “No Money Down.”

EDIT: the one with audio is nowhere near as bad. Whenever Marge speaks I think of Beavis and it sort of soothes me.

Reminds me of this vinyl I have:

Unsettling yes, but it isn’t as wrong as this:

Subversive brilliance. Watch it more than once for maximum effect.

This ‘Bart the General’ series is great. It’s actually a lot smarter than what it might look like. It’s a scathing indictment of modern mediocrity, actually it’s more of a rape of mediocrity. It’s also playing on many fears, esp. fears of a family, with these menacing figures (the brilliant delinquency of Toadfish the Aussie: “best not get on my bad side, mate”) invading the household and non-sensically taking over everything. What better avenue than a Simpsons parody to do this, the archetypal innocuous disfunctional family that no matter what happens they’re always ok in the end. The cheap production allows it a rawness that could not be achieved with a more polished production.

(I love episode 4 at about 02:35 when Homer and Flanders are outside the house beside the car with Toadfish behind the upstairs window when the other character walks by. Perfect.)

I think the eyes are the only thing that makes it creepy, other than that I wasn’t really phased buy it.

“Where I’m going, there’s no coming back from”. I think my favorite is episode 2, with the focus on the Dr. House clown character and the introduction of the STONEFISH character. Fucking classic. Can’t wait to see how this epic saga is going to unfold.
