Day of Light

KMFDM’s newest single, previously vinyl only. Anyone heard this yet? I absolutely love it. Definitely ranks in my top 10 KMFDM tracks of all time.

I was completely unaware this was out until a few days ago (and it wouldn’t have mattered anyway: the release date was 2/1 and the vinyl sold out INSANELY quick). However, I think I’m gonna have to buckle down and snag the T-shirt, as it’s the best Brute! work in a long time and comes with the download for the single and the B-side.

(Also a slight chance at getting the last vinyl, but HUSH. Don’t jinx me.)

its really cool. not up my normal alley, but still really well done.

also, i love the art.

i’m a dork and got one of the vinyl… the b-side is silly but the a side is great

Got it today, or yesterday… It’s different. The second track seems like a weird attempt for ambient. Both are a totally different approach, and actually a bit more old school kmfdm-ish. Like pre-naive.

Shirt’s still in stock. Ordering very soon.

Don’t jinx me, you guys.

I’m listening to it on blip right now and fuck me if it’s not the first thing I’ve enjoyed from kmfdm in well over a decade!

Word. I like how Sascha’s voice is buried way in the back, way at the end. Like it oughta be.

This is grand stuff altogether. Haven’t heard any KMFDM since ‘WWIII’. Thanks Ice.

Are you sure that’s Sascha?

The vocalist on “Day of Light” is William Wilson from a Seattle-based goth band called “Legion Within.” He does a dead-on Peter Murphy impression (vocally) and even have a Bauhaus tribute band as a side gig. I think the Legion Within stuff is pretty good…the last two discs were produced by Sascha under his “KMFDM Records” label. Think Bauhaus, except with more political lyrics and with the occasional electro/industrial flourish thrown in.

Pretty good stuff. Bauhaus is better of course. But this will have to do I suppose since they break up after 5 days every time they reunite…

Great song…!!!

Saying just the words “day of light”? Yes.
