Cool. Very different than what I was expecting. It’s more of a dirty lounge version than the spooky “goth” send up I was expecting.
I’m glad, though, as I love the original and actually begged the Ministry gang to do it as one of their covers when they were taking requests for “Cover-Up”. I always thought if it were given the right filthy industrial crust vibe ala proper Revolting Cocks it would be something really magical.
But, alas . . . . we got “Thunderstruck” and “Rehab” instead.
Corny and however many years too late and the video is super cheese. Original is way better. Seems like an obvious ploy for attention to get people into his solo album.

Well, you would be the expert on that.

Expert or no I call it like I see it.
Voidhead’s right. The video is definitely SUPER CHEESE (and creative sleepwalking). But I always like when covers properly re-invent a song into something different and fresh, and I think they did a fine job of it.
I do agree, though, that it is no way as good as the original. But that’s NEVER been the point of covers in my opinion. The point is to give a new take on something, instead of just playing the same song the same way or (yeah, Al, I’m looking at you) just making the same song really really fast (super lame).
I think the video could have worked if they’d A) directed the singer/star a little better (the shots of him looking back and acting scared are cringe-worthy) and B) actually made the girl kind of dark and creepy (and in B&W like the rest of the vid) instead of just bloody and . . . well, tits and ass. Everyone likes tits and ass, but this was just lazy. “Hey, let’s put tits and ass in the video . . . oh, and since we’re supposed to be gothy and edgy, let’s put her in color and rub some fake blood on her.”
I never watch videos anyway, so that aspect didn’t really matter to me much as I mostly was interested in the song, but I totally concur with Voidy’s call that it was a ploy for attention.
I’ll watch anything with Sasha Gray in it. Well, i’m not a big porno watcher however.
