David Allan Coe

Have y’all heard of this guy?

There is a lot of racist and comedy music on the internet that has been attributed to this singer/songwriter, most of it which is not his…

however, he has written some racist shit but at the same time he is responsible for some brilliant singer/songwriter moments…

“Take this job and shove it” is probably his most famous song that made it into the mainstream… at the same time he has written some Country classics as well as a proto-weird al… just wondering if some of you have heard of him…

Dont know much about this guy but on the topic of racist work the prize for most consequential work has got to go to Griffith’s ‘Birth of a Nation’. In the years following its release in 1915, the KKK’s membership increased from a few thousand to over 1 million. Griffith was a talented filmmaker, his film ‘Intolerance’ was the first ever film “epic”, but BoaN was the worst possible form of propaganda (excluding the Nazi’s) and it tarnished his name forever. Rightly so.

I had no idea of the unfortunate racist angle, though I did know that dude spent a chunk of time in jail.

“Jack Daniels if you Please” was a favorite track of mine back when I was a heavy drinker and into outlaw country music.

yeah i dig dac i first was introduced to his “x-rated” albums by a lil nazi guy at a party tryin to piss me off(i’m a black southern gentlemen),ah jay downs, anyway he actually complety renouces all those recordings and he said live one time that his single greatest regret was that he will only be known for some records he recorded for fun while living with bikers. he has one song about how much he adores prison punks which is fucking surprsing and hilarours i suggest you try and find it it’s like “fuck anita driver/homosexuals”

Only thing i know is that I have a cd by him called rebel meets rebel which is him, dimebag darrel and vinnie paul from pantera and damageplan
