Thanks, I still need to check that out. A friend of mine heard it, and said it’s not much better than Paper Monsters, but was an improvement (not a big fan of PM).

i saw a thing where he played with john frusciante last summer (via this board actually) - do you know if john made it to any of the songs?
Yet to hear any of his solo work, but if it’s anything near the stuff he wrote for Playing The Angel, i’ll likely enjoy it. I always figured he’d be more capable of writing than many thought at the time. How he went so long in DM without writing a single line until 05’ is a little shocking to me.
Dave will be in NYC tomorrow signing his new cd at Best Buy…I’m gonna go.
It’s quite a good album and a definite improvement over Paper Monsters. I’m digging the more varied electronic sound on Hourglass…definitely more Dave’s style than PM’s tunes were.
That said, I thought Dave’s songs on PTA were better than anything on either of his solo albums. The first three or four songs in a row are all superb.
Just got the new album and absolutely loving this. There’s a b-side out there titled “Tomorrow”, which is very good as well. Yet to hear paper monsters, but i’m sure I will sooner or later. A lot of people are calling his solo work “Depeche-Lite”, and it seems like it’s a negative thing. It is, but that doesn’t mean much in the negative sense. I’d compare this album to Exciter (which is one of my favorites) and Ultra. But in the end. Very good album!
