Dan swano

Long before Tobias Forge achieved worldwide fame with GHOST, there was another Swedish hard rock band with the same name. In 1983, then 10-year-old Dan Swanö started GHOST with his 12-year-old friend Anders Måreby, drawing influences from KISS and other classic rock groups of the late '70s and early '80s. The young duo composed 60 songs between 1983 and 1988, most of them sung in Swedish but a few in English as well. They made several demo and live recordings but never landed a record deal despite their best efforts.

Now, 30 years after Swanö’s GHOST transformed into ICARUS and then UNICORN, 30 songs from Dan’s first serious band will be released on May 18 by Bone Records on CD (limited to 200 copies) and double gatefold LP (300 copies, black vinyl).

In the latest issue of Sweden Rock Magazine, Forge said that he wasn’t bothered by the upcoming release of “1983-1988”. “I think it’s cool, it’s fun,” he said. “I don’t think it’s negative in any way. It’s existing stuff, so they have all the right in the world to do this.”

In recent years, Swanö has made a name for himself as an in-demand producer while continuing to make music with a variety of projects.

Preordered immediately.

Swano is incredible and did some killer work on the Edge of Sanity and Nightengale stuff and I love the Moontower album…and he had a big hand in helping one of my favorite bands,Katatonia…

This old stuff is really good considering the members were 11,12,13 years old…better than a lot of bands with older members at the time…those keyboards though…sheesh

Call me crazy, but any time pre-teens make a metal or punk band . . . I’m on board!

No way they can be cooler than OLD SKULL, though.

I HATE YOU, RONALD REAGAN!!!

I dunno man, during the brief time I was regularly working door for a club, one of the few bands the owner booked that wasn’t generic metalcore happened to be a punk band made up of kids aged thirteen through fifteen. I get that they’re kids and all, so I wasn’t an asshole and was encouraging as I could be, but goddamn were they bad. Imagine if the Ramones were the most incompetent musicians you’ve ever heard and didn’t have pubes yet. Not everyone can be Redd Kross I guess.

Not everyone can be Redd Kross I guess.

Or even Kriss Kross.

Listening to moontower now. Very hybrid type of music with the ministryish vocals.
Also reminds me of big dumb face.
Love this…very addictive for sure, and i love it when it’s a one man band set up.

Witherscape…definitely top notch progressive stuff. Just incredible musicianship.

Will be seeking out anything swano is involved with, fresh breath of smooth aggressive music without the crap.
