CU Latour

From what I understand Mr. Jourgensen is not even present on stage during the older songs.

Whoa, whoa, whoa… I know Mr. Fear Factory is doing vocals for some songs, but is Al actually gone for some of the songs? Or does he just not do the vocals on Just One Fix/Thieves/Cover Up stuff? This is how rumors get started. Don’t misunderstand me; I’m not defending. I just want to know if I can actually tell me friends (well, my one friend that still cares about Ministry with me) that the second half of the show is legitimately nothing more than a Ministry cover band (followed by a Ministry cover band covering other bands).

Sorry for the confusion, I’m just going on what some others have said on the PA board, and I hope that it is NOT true. Hopefully as more dates come and go we’ll have a clearer picture of what the stage show is really like, but if Al does leave for part of the show then it is disappointing to say the least

I found a review topic on Something Awful that answers some of our questions. Jonathan writes, “Just one fix was sung with the Fear Factory singer on vocals, and Al on rythim guitar.”

I’m actually curious to hear Burton’s takes on these songs, and don’t consider his vocals on them to be a downside, and probably the only upside. Not a huge fan of his work, but it’s SOME change at least, and maybe a little different vocal variation, so i’d like to hear that. Screw the bush stuff and the covers though… Heard enough of it to hurl, but if I run into any boots, i’d be more than happy to acquire - only to hear the burton vox versions of these songs.

I don’t mind Burton doing leads on a couple of songs. Connelly did it.
It’s the fact that only 3 tunes predate 2004 that bother me.

I agree about Burton, it’s not like Al’s voice is that fantastically good these days. It’s the lack of old tunes that irritates me.

I found this quote from all in the Headbangers Ball interview about the tour:

“It’s gonna be good,” gloats Jourgensen. “It’s a good middle finger to the fans on the way out.”

Who thought he meant it so literally?

Or this interview… http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/10198.html

“We’re going to go out there and play like for two or three hours. We’re going to be the fucking Grateful Dead of Industrial, you know. You know, go through all the fucking jukebox hits and let’s just have a hootenanny.”

yeah so apparently he considers post-2004 ministry stuff as an unstoppable continous barrage of hits, yeah? so what was all that 1981-2003? tuning up?

all this is really sad.

Shit yeah Motherfucker that Kyber Pass shit gets me riled the fuck up! Bring on more heat, hot tracks like the Blackhawks victory song, that shit will fuck us up! Bring on “The Dick Song” - that crazy ass shit is what the kids fuckin’ want!!!

Wow. Staying the fuck home. [crazy]

“It’s gonna be good,” gloats Jourgensen. “It’s a good middle finger to the fans on the way out.”

Who thought he meant it so literally?

Haha - well put! That’s funny…

2003 was the real farewell tour…

wow. 2003 was the real farewell tour. hadn’t thought it through like that, but that’s a pretty good assessment.
i now officially vote in afra for master of ceremonies at the first chicago show. if there were no censorship in the camp, that would happen and be cool.
it would be even cooler if afra flipped off the audience prior to his own exit.

2003 was the real farewell tour…

You know, that’s absolutely true. It was the last tour with almost everyone who played with the band before 2003 - most notably Paul, but also Louis Svetik and Rey Washam. There was a pretty decent setlist with some really good songs in rotation as the encores as well as a reworked verson of We Believe as a special homage to the old material. The guests were top notch (Connelly, Ogre, Gibby, Jello Biafra) and were in most cases people who actually had something to do with writing the original songs. This was also when Al started connecting with fans - meeting with them at shows (for free), doing Q&As online, letting a real fan (Afra) run the official site, and even letting fans participate on stage (Rodent). It seemed like an exciting time with the band and was well worth the drive to see.

Not that everything since has been bad. I liked some of the Trilogy songs and Al was nice enough to come to Nashville on the 04 tour, but it’s just not the same…

2003 was the real farewell tour…

true… soooo glad I made that one. Only a festival gig but it was good anyway.

back in the 90´s I missed a Ministry gig because I was in the army, I would never in my wildest dream think of NOT going to a gig near me if there was one…
A sad thing that it has come to that now…

Well I now have my [Kefaley69] Tattoo to remind me of what ministry once was

2003 was the real farewell tour…

No doubt. I would’ve KILLED to see it.

Yea, sucked being poor in the 90’s (high school and College!) and Early parts of 2k (crappy Job). I could only afford to go to the last 2 tours. Really crappy that people in my shoes got hosed!
Late,

This show kicks ass…didn’t here this one so i guess it’s new…worthy, oh yes!

my remaster of the show I saw on the 2003 tour…don’t know who the original taper was…reinforces my previous remark…2003 was the real farewell tour…

which show turmoil?

the guy who taped that san fran show is a cool dude, but he doesn’t trade anymore. i have that one, plus the one his friend taped right next to him that night. i always wondered what they would sound like if i mixed them both together or something…
