Still an album I haven’t bothered to track down and waste my time on, five years after the fact.
Rapeman and Melvins both do solid covers of “Just Got Paid” and “Black Betty” respectively. I can’t unhear KMFDM’s early bizarro take on “Bang a Gong” either, rendering the straight laced tinnitus drum machine hell of Ministrys pointless. “Under My Thumb” is a great song but c’mon.
“Under My Thumb” and “Wonderful World” are both pretty cool and interesting. Most of the other tracks are lame . . . . “Hey, let’s cover ____ but do it super fast and gnarly!? Yaaaayyyy!!!” BBBOOOOOORRRRIIINNGG!!!
That was the fastest I’ve ever gotten rid of an album I actually bought. I maybe listened to it twice. Maybe. Sold it to Amoeba and probably got a buck for it.
I enjoyed it well enough, some of it’s terrible, some of it’s fun. Not being a vinyl man, though, i’m wondering if having an LP of it will make any difference to the shitty, tinny production?
