Any fans? I know i’ve seen bisquito around at chris’ forum (Yeah, I lurk). But over the last week, i’ve binged myself silly and bought a shitload of his albums (seaside companion, exodus, whiplash…). Figured, I enjoy the phenobarb album a great deal, same with the Largo album. So I got whiplash first, which is now growing on me more. Got Blonde Exodus next, which instantly stands out to be a great album. I love string arrangements, and seemingly have begun appreciating acoustic guitars (a little more, if not a lot) over the last year or so. But some damn good stuff there. I’m only missing too, but I should be saving my money. itunes ain’t free, you know!? heh
Edit: And I got The Episodes, which is pretty damn good as well. Having a hard time getting into Seaside, although I enjoyed The Fortune at first listen. I think over the years, chris really has established his own sound. Definately a long way since phenobarb.
Chris is a great guy, friendly and conversive with fans (met him twice), and he writes a hell of a book. His solo material has always been hit-and-miss with me, but I like what he’s doing musically. Sometimes it’s just a little too ‘weird’ for me; I guess I have to be in the right mood for those albums. I think his ‘industrial’ vocals are his strong suit, hence his RevCo material is my favorite. I also really like his work in The Damage Manual and Murder Inc.
Does anyone here have Largo with Bill Rieflin. How is it?
Chris’ work with Fini Tribe is worth checking out as well. Also, he did vocals on a dance track by Final Cut called “I Told You Not To Stop” which I liked.

Yet to hear a single sound from finitribe. Always been a little curious about them though.
And I have Largo and I think it’s great. They recycled a couple of songs and renamed them. “Last of Joy” from off whiplash was renamed to “Salt of Joy”, and “Stray” was redone as well.
Chris ’ solo work usually has to catch me in the right mood. I have always liked his wax trax output the best. after that I struggle to make it through the albums. Seaside used to be my favorite post trax, but exodus has taken that place.
i have ALMOST all of his albums, i like them too much to torrent the rest.
but this album is beautiful. i cant believe there isnt more fuss about this album here. i cant stop playing it.
i like his Revolting Cocks work a lot, and i used to wish that he would do another ‘heavy’ project because i have always thought that his voice is so harsh and powerful, but i love his softer stuff too…

I think you’re the first person I’ve heard say this about Largo. I’m a fan of Connelly screaming. I don’t think Folk music suits him well but god bless him for going with something he likes.
On that note I got Largo for .99 cents at a little independent shop about an hour away from my house and upon first playing it I thought the distributor had fucked up and printed the wrong music to the disc . you know how sometimes you buy a slayer and everything is slayer on the disc and packaging but you put the disc in and its the fucking Supremes or some shit. but no that’s what Largo sounds like.

haha. well i really like it. it has a VERY strong Bowie feel.
I’m a BIG fan of Connelly’s solo stuff.
And Largo is awesome. I dig that album very much.
Get the most recent one too (Pentland Firth Howl) it’s great.
I know opinions differ here on Connelly’s solo stuff, but for my money it’s a go. I’ve bought every album since I picked up shipwreck when it came out and I’ve never been disappointed. Screaming or singing it’s all good stuff.
And I too can attest to the fact that he is really nice in person. I got to see his last show (for a while with a new kid) in the summer in Chicago and said hello and shook hands and the like. He was really cool.

That’s great! I really like when peoples’ heroes turn out to be very humble, genuinely (and if not not genuine At least have the act down good enough to fool most people) nice people.
YOU HEAR THAT CONNELLY? IT’S GREAT YOU STILL APPRECIATE YOUR FANS; WAY TO BE!
You gotta shout sometimes, with Connelly. He’s getting older ya’ know!

I’m sure i’ve said somewhere on how much I like Largo. It’s an awesome album. Very chilled, and wish they do more together than just that one album. It’s been awhile, though, since I stopped and listened to any Connelly. And although I bought it, I still haven’t given the last one a full listen… Maybe now’s a good time. My favorite is easily Blonde Exodus. Shipwreck, although I know a lot of people seem to like it, is my least favorite. Just something about it that just pushes me away from it.
If you ever come to cali I’ll come see your show even if it isn’t the Music I dig. just to have you pen your name to some REVCO shit!
Don’t mind supporting artists who are cool people! and here you are posting on a message board, that makes you cool people
COOL PEOPLE, BUDDY!
Hey, Connelly do you ever go out of your way to NOT look at a guys schlong? or if it’s in the room you’re gonna steal a glance at it just to see how you measure up? I think we need a ruling on this!
