This isn’t the Backwards bootleg that’s been floating around, but an earlier version of the material found on The Ape of Naples and The New Backwards. These are from Danny Hyde’s vault, and presumably are the versions originally planned for release on Trent Reznor’s Nothing label in the mid 90s.

If it’s the material I’m thinking of, most of it ‘leaked’ a long time ago in some horribly downgraded format, and I remember at least one track (‘AYOR’) ended up being on ‘The New Backwards’ in pretty much the same form as that leaked demo.
So it would definitely be interesting to hear all of that in a proper resolution, even if it’s stuff that I have some familiarity with. One of the demos that didn’t make the cut for the final Coil releases (“Heaven’s Blade”) was a particularly interesting expansion on the Love’s Secret Domain sound filtered through kind of a ‘Warp Records’ sensibility.
On a side note I have to say that those last couple Coil releases are the ones I listen to the least; while there’s definite magic(k) in some of the tracks, it was just impossible to raise them to that sidereal atmosphere that the records had when Balance was coordinating things.
Does any release really “leak” anymore? Isn’t it just a given that every piece of music in the world will somehow see the light of day before it’s proposed release date?

I never really gave the word much thought, to be honest with you. As for it being a given - 99% of the time you’re right. 1% of the time, it shows up online 1-2 weeks after the proposed release date.
